I just ate some Cheerios with 2% milk and had to run straight to the can because my stomach hurt. I don't think I can take dairy products anymore.

Anyone else lactose intolerant? I used to be a big milk drinker.

Not I.. not sure what that would be like.

I dislike drinking milk anyway, but my dad buys it and it's there, so I drink it.

Me too. :(
BUT, don't fret! You have to try something called RiceDream.
It is a rice milk. Tastes better than even real, regular milk, and it wont make you sick, plus, it tastes better than soy milk too!
try it, you'll like it!

You live in the pacific NW & you drink milk (although you hate it) when there's water all around you?

Same thing here. I can handle cheese, ice cream, (never liked yogurt) but cannot take milk anymore.

I drink lots of water.. :)

Usually only have a drink of milk(less than a full glass) after dinner. If he would buy soy milk, I would drink that. :p

i am. everyone is different in their degree of intolerance. the problem is that you don't produce enough lactase to digest lactose anymore. however, some cheeses and other more aged products have broken down the lactose in them and so don't affect people as much.

i recommend lactaid milk and products. taste just like regular stuff and without, or with less, lactose. they also make pills that will allow you eat dairy products.

I'm the only one in the family who isn't lactose intolerant. We use a lot of Lactaid around here. I can't stand the stuff, but if I keep milk in the house somebody inevitably drinks it and gets sick.

I'm told that if you go without milk for a long time, and then introduce it tiny bit by tiny bit, your body learns to produce the enzyme needed to digest the stuff.

Yep, I'm intolerant too, really tears up my GI system, even the Lactaid doesn't help a lot...

It actually hurts for a couple of days after I eat dairy products:(

i'm weirdly lactose intolerant. i will be for a couple of years, then i'll be fine, then not, then ok... for the past 15 years or so. my dad is a digestive system doctor and he has no clue what's up. lactaid works really well for me when regular milk becomes too much. the pills & the drops are also good. but it sure does suck when you want that second bowl of cereal and think, "eh, it won't affect me too much," then... :(

yah i dont drink any milk anymore. try the costco brand soy milk - its cheap and taste good (imho)

i dilute it with water 1 part h20:6 parts soy because i think its a little bit to thick - when i did drink milk it was always skim

Thats how i am.. Any form of straight milk turns my stomach into a cramping machine. But i can handle dairy in other forms.

There's lactose free milk.

I am HIGHLY lactose intolerant.
Its not the end of the world.
There is Soy milk, "Lactose free milk", and rice milk.

Breyer's makes a lactose free vanilla ice cream that is pretty good. There is also Rice Dream (rice ice cream).

Pizzas, Lasagna and others made by Amy's Kitchen are very good (soy cheese).

Galaxy National Foods makes several types of lactose free cheeses (cheddar, mazzerella (sp?)..) in the form of shredded (Veggie Shreds) and American flavored Veggie Slice. Both are in green bags.

There is also a pill called Lactaid Ultra that may be useful to have on hand for whenever you must eat a little cheese. IE: dinner out/at someone else's house.

any more info needed -pm me.

i used to be when i was younger, but i grew out of mine. there were tablets that would allow you to eat whatever you wanted and not hurt, cant remeber name, think lactaid?

What sucks the worst is if you drink coffee with creamer.
There is no substitute for half&half.

Rice, soy, whatever, they all don't work in coffee.

I used to hate cereal when I was growing up because I didn't like feeling that used to get after drinking milk. I didn't know there was a condition for this. My mom would make me have cereal though because she thought milk was good for me. Then when i grew up, I discovered Lactaid. One of the best products ever. Now I can have cereal again and enjoy it :)
