what do yall think of this for 695? how much better is the SXGA or the regular XGA? does it have a gloss finish like the 700m screen?

tiger-
i personally wont buy a laptop at the basic xga resolution. maybe if it was one of those little 700m screens. i like the sxga+ you got. and with teh dedicated gfx card on that model, 700 seems good but only for personal use.

probably not for business use, or for mobile workstation he meant? and not for gaming either

i bought and sold a 700m half a year ago during the first 750 off 1500. i almost kept it, but seeing how small the WSXGA is and how crappy the integrated intel card is, i got a more powerful 8600 with ATI Radeon 9600. which i like except for a few loose keys on the keyboard

Agreed. If you want proof, look at how much smaller the latest Dell Outlet thread on FW is compared to the last one (the last one was HUGE). Even with the coupon, the deals were thin.

do you all use scripts to get good deals, im looking for a decent dimension 8400 and have yet to find one. even a 4700 would be ok if the specs were right.

I don't think all the deals are gone, I've seen some "decent" deals on 4700's this past week. I just don't think the weekends have as good of drops.

I dunno about that. Last weekend had some pretty good drops. The problem right now is the discounts aren't that great AND they no longer offer free shipping. You're looking at $99 more for shipping on the deskotops. That kinda kills any deal on the refurbs right now.

what do you mean by only for personal use? regarding its power?

prob not desktop replacement or cheap enough to resell. but very nice for standard personal use. i'm looking for something similar, myself.

"what, no dimension 8100 for you?"
not if'n it ain't got no agp slot
i got an extra 9700 pro (and i do not want to sell it)
but i looked over at the faq @ aaltonen and saw it has the same stupid backplate around the ps just like this gx 150
feeling much better now

Sold the last (third) 8400 today - netted close to $800 on three systems, with pretty much no work involved whatsoever (sold them locally and had buyers pick them up instead of dealing with egay.) Sweet friggin deal 🙂

so now there is suddenly inventory again. did dell finally alter their html so the scripters existing regexp fail?

Nope. Just crappy deals. No coupons, no free shipping.

Why, on the RAM selection pull down menu, is there an option for 1000 and 1024, and also 2000 and 2048? How do you have 1000 MB of RAM? I'm pretty sure it only comes in powers of 2...

Still Good deals to be had. My bro needed a sub $400 box, I picked up a 4700 2.8 512, 80gb, CDRW, 1 year wnty for 305 shipped. Plus, he needed it Asap, and it shipped out next day. Not like the heyday of free shipping, but not too shabby either.
