Can someone answer a question for me: early in the thread someone said the inventory is updated at :48 past the hour. Is this still the case? I kept hitting refresh a few min. prior to :48, and there were still the same 3 systems showing. Then at around :47, there were suddenly 20 systems available. Then I immediatly hit refresh and it was back down to 3 left. Then at :58 I hit refresh again, and now all of a sudden there are 50 systems available? What is going on here?

I believe most of the dumps most of the time occur mostly between :32 and :55. (OK, it just means that I do not know for sure. :) )

The :32 dumps might be abandoned shopping cart expirations. Lately, there seems to be a lot of scripting activity because of the availability of coupons, publicity (this thread and another one on FW).

A low average level of script users is combined with the fact that Dell has been trying to REALLY clean out their inventory. As a result, the inventory levels are often out of wack - Dell dumps often breaking the "standard" :48 dump pattern, and newbie scripters' scripts are mal-adjusted wiping the inventory into later abandoned shopping carts.

Just my uneducated opinion.

If I wasn't searching for a system for a friend this would be too hysterical. I'm watching the 4700 drop this past hour and it's going along, about 10 systems in the list. A sub 300$ system comes up and all 10 systems disappear on the next refresh.
Talk about poor proxy scripts.

The saga continues..... So after 1 1/2 hours on the phone with India last night I was really no better off then when I started. I filled out the transfer form but could not schedule to get the machine fixed until the "system updated". I called tonight and spoke with someone else after getting a very confusing e-mail from Dell. I sent in a "displeasure" e-mail more just to get it off my chest. The reply stated that they had clasified my system as LOST (sound famiar bamacre ?).

It turns out that they had "forgotten" 2 digits on the end of the UPS tracking number on my invoice and when they tried to track the system it came back as an invalid number. So they marked it as lost. Well, the person I spoke with tonight seems to know what they are doing but I have to wait another 24 hours to find out. Hopefully tomorrow night I can call Tech support, verify that teh drive is bad (again) and get someone out here to fix it.

You know, if I hadn't picked this up for $150 this would all really suck.

I ordered it :)

Holy crap, it won't even fit in my car.

Think I'll finally get that FedEx acct and have them pick it up. I'm on vacation next week, hope it sells well. That's a lot of hard drive space for 2107 bucks.

LOL, no way any F5'ers around here are going to get one of those low priced servers now. Scripters will update their scripts to look for all servers under $200 and grab them before any of us can see them.

Yeah, that's what I figured. So I am looking at higher priced stuff like the one above. Retail from dell is 4615 for the 2800 I got above.
