Please, they are in the business of selling computers. They do not care if somebody's 80-year old grandma is waiting for her grandchild to catch a good deal. They do not care if those PCs end up in somebody's garage, or get redistributed via eBay. They want them off their hands, fast and in large quantities.Originally posted by: schizoid
... foiling these proxies to allow people who just want to buy a system to get the best deal possible.
Edit: The irony is, I don't even WANT a system. I just want people who do want to buy one to be able to do so.

To bamacre: Dude, when I read wchou's comment, I thought it was nutty. But the more I think about it, the more paranoid I get: Why else would you want to start a 1500-post thread to create competition for yourself?
Is it the longest Hot Deal thread ever?

Haha, that's so true. It will get routed through about 10 Indians before someone actually figures out what he's talking about.
BTW, if you think Dell cares about resellers on eBay, you're right. They silently SUPPORT them. Think about it. Dell is about inventory first, margins second. They have quarterly goals that are always met (or exceeded) because they can rely on resellers to snap up systems at heavy discounts.
Dell knows EXACTLY what to do when they need to clear some inventory...yesterday and today were perfect examples. Need to clear out some i600M and i6000? Why not release a $750 off affiliate coupon (Dell even sponsors one affiliate...FatWallet) targeted specifically at those systems and sell them at a hefty discount (but not at a loss).
Dell Outlet is the same way. Got excess inventory? Release some coupons, increase discounts, and watch the resellers clear the inventory. Sure, regular customers are fine too...snapping up one or two systems for themselves. But resellers who buy 10-20 a week are going to drop that inventory much, much faster.
Ever wonder why Dell doesn't release these Outlet deals or $750 off coupons to the mass media? Yes it would clear their inventory (a positive), but it would also tremendously devalue the computers the company sells 90% of the year at regular price. They WANT to keep resellers in Dell Outlet because not only do they have a steady stream of buyers ready to clear their inventory, but the act of reselling will soften the devaluation of their computers to the public.
A wiser person than I on FW said that eBay makes about 8% of their fees off auctions that sell Dell equipment. I'm not sure if they were correct or not, but looking at the countless thousands of systems/accessories listed...both Dell and eBay know about resellers and have (purposely) done little about it.

This guy is batting 0 for 2.
And the poor saps using his script are going to get frustrated quickly having to empty their full carts of crappy systems every minute.

yeah i found a hot 8400 but it was 1237 dollars... not eligible for 30% (if that's still alive) i think dell purposedly adjust many of the systems to below the 1250 mark so you cant use the 30% off coupon
