well I guess I paid 71 dollars extra for a faster and bigger HD and the DVD+/- RW drive. 🙂 Are the computer from the Dell Outlet refurbished or machines that were returned because the buyer didn't like it?

I bought my wife one last week. When we got it it had absolutely no signs of ever being used. No dust inside and no scratches anywhere on the case.

Yup. In fact HERE are some pictures (torward the bottom) that I took of a refurbished XPS Gen4 I got. It is absolutely brand new.

mine are always dusty, i think its because of the dust settling in dell's warehouses. they dont put a bag over their refurbished computers. other than that mine always have no signs of use, except one 8400 where the lower case clip is messed up.

I was going to sell it but ended up deciding to sell my gen3 (which didnt really sell) and keep a lower-powered 8400 with the bad casing instead. the 8400 are such powerful machines, I actually ghosted my gen4 disc image into the 8400 and it booted right up with no problems! i guess intel 915/925 are so similar that windows dont even say it detected new hardware when I booted it up!

I've also gotten brand new refurbed XPS gen4 machines. Still have the stickers on the front. I did get a 3000 that was dusty but all the other ones were clean.

Inspiron 9300 Notebook: Intel Pentium M 730 Processor (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB) Integrated Audio
Microsoft Windows XP Home
512 MB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (2 DIMM)
60 GB EIDE Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
256MB NVIDA GeForce Go 6800
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen XGA+ Notebook Screen
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 mini PCI Card
8x DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

$1199 shipped. I'd have rather had XP Pro, but everything else seems great to me.

With the latest limited $700 off $1699 I would've spent $100 more but gotten the cheap printer. I'd rather they keep the printer!

My first laptop -- how'd I do?

Dimension 4700 Micro-Tower: Pentium 4 Processor 550 with HT Technology (3.40GHz, 800FSB)
Microsoft Windows XP Home
1 GB DDR SDRAM, 400 MHz (2 DIMM)
1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive
160 GB EIDE SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
128MB PCI Express ATI Radeon X300 SE
56Kbps Data/Fax Modem
16x DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

$620 +tx... deal or not?
thanks.

and then click on 8400's, then click Price 3 times to get the refresh filter to work.

But then again I'm just played with the script long enough to get me a new pc and then stopped. The pro's might have a better link.

^ I thought you only had to click on proce twice though.

When you first go it's in some other order
Click once, high to low,
Second click, low to high

Looks like things have really slowed down. I picked up a second PC this week for my handicapped son who loves to surf the net -- replaced an old 500mhz! I got a Dimension 2400 (don't laugh!), 2.4ghz celeron, 256 RAM, 40gb hd, DVD BURNER! -- $214.00. Bought it Tuesday morning; it was delivered Thursday morning. Looks brand new -- no dust, already has XP SP2, etc. Up and running in 5 minutes, on the net in another 5. Cool deal.

Anyone ordered from Dell outlet in the last several hours? I have found some decent deals but can never checkout -- just get a Dell error page that says try later or contact us to order.

Anyone ever phone ordered from Dell Outlet?

Stupid POS dell. i happened to be up at 4AM and decided to browse. Found 2 nice systems, both 8400. One was a basic system for $400. The other was pretty loaded for $800 shipped. I tried checking out, only to encounter the same stupid error. I'm pissed.

You are seeing the error msg because your session times out after an hour or two. I always open a new browser session every hour to avoid the error. I think you can also click on your cart button then go back and try to add to your cart.

Dell outlet has a special phone number from what I understand but I don't have the number and think they may be closed on the weekend.

Me too. I had a 4700 with P4 2.8/80GB/256/dvd/cdrw/XP Pro for 239. Lost it due to this error.

Nope, others got the same error. I got home around 5am (CST), and within a couple of minutes tried to order, and got the same error. Others on FW reported the same.
