Haha, Yanks suck. 6 players alone with a salary more than some entire teams, and they still arent as good.

I don't think this is Torre's fault, I think he's a good manager and I think he did a good job this year.
The fault is George Steinbrenner's. He (rightly) gets alot of credit when they win, and he deserves blame when they lose because of him.
The Yankees did not need Sheffield, they did not need Randy, they did not need Wright, they did not need Arod.
George goes after aging big name players time and again. when they dont produce as they did in the past he passes the buck and blames someone else.
When will the Yankees realize what a team is about? You can go out and get an all-star at every position, but that does not guarantee anything.
When will the Yankees realize that you need pitching to win? You cant bludgeon every team to death all the time.
Arod gotta go IMO too. The Yankees wil not win as long as Arod is a Yankee.
That's it. This was a shameful end to an exciting season.

although hindsight says not signing pettite was a good move, i still think it spelled bad things for the yankees that they didn't resign him. he was CLUTCH in the playoffs, he was consistently one of their better playoff starters.
They [Mets] have a loyal, subway-riding, mostly blue-collar fan base that has yet to be displaced by the front-running limousine crowd that has overrun Yankee Stadium since 1996.
The Yankees are the privileged New York of Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump and Billy Crystal and Goldman Sachs, the exclusive New York that can always get a table at Elaine's or Rao's.
They are Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and a mismatched band of outrageously paid mercenaries who haven't produced. Their lineup is a gaudy collection of freelancers who have never jelled into a true team, their clubhouse devoid of camaraderie.
"No matter what they say about juggernauts or murderers' row, you still have to play the games," Randolph said.
Since the last time the Yankees won the World Series, in 2000, Steinbrenner has spent more than $1 billion on ballplayers. All he's gotten for his money is frustration against the Diamondbacks, humiliation against the bargain-basement Marlins, a momentous choke job against the Red Sox and three first-round knockouts.
In the process, Yankee Stadium has become a tense, joyless cauldron where winning is demanded rather than enjoyed and victory brings not pleasure but relief.
This year, Shea Stadium was what Yankee Stadium used to be, before too much success brought a sense of arrogance and entitlement to increasingly jaded fans. Mets games were festive and fun, and the stories coming out of Shea were mostly uplifting -- the emergence of Reyes and Wright, the return to New York of El Duque, the huge contributions made by "little guys" such as Endy Chavez and Jose Valentin.
The Mets have been as bracing as a ride on the Coney Island Cyclone.
Said a decidedly gleeful Valentin: "Who's the better team in New York now?"
hahahaha... man what an awesome weekend for sports. Yankees choking just as I predicted, McNabb lighting up Dallas and TO, and WVU in the top 5 for college football. Life is great.Originally posted by: SP33Demon
My apathy for NY/Boston reached an all time high after Abreau went to NY. I'll be checking back in this thread after NY chokes in the postseason again due to lack of pitching (despite 200+ mil payroll hahaha!!). Baseball is broken.
