Wow... Yanks beat Pedro AGAIN.

I think the one thing that really works to the yankees advantage is having the multiple switch hitters in the lineup. It helps eliminate some of the left-righty matchups from the opposing manager, namely bringing in a guy because a string of lefties or righties is coming up.

Mussina looked a little off tonight, as did Pedro, but both did make some nasty pictches throughout the game. Gordon giving up that homer kind of hurt, but it was nice to see him shut them down afterwards, and Matsui to answer right back.

Do you guys think there is something wrong with Mo? The past few years, he doesn't seem to be throwing as hard (topping out around 93) and you don't see that cutter anymore. He certainly isn't breaking bats like he did in the late late 90's. I still think he's one of the best (if not the best) closer in baseball, but I don't think he is as automatic as some of my fellow yankees fans say.

Anyways, way to go beating the RedSox in September in Fenway! Now, if we can beat Schilling too, I'd feel pretty confident going into the playoffs and potentially facing the sox down the road.

Go Yanks!

Yankees beat Pedro due to imbecile manager who didn't take him out after 7 innings. Why doesn't he learn from Grady's mistake?

I even said at the beginning of the 8th that they would lose this game. Oh well, if we can take 2/3 at home we are even with the yanks.

Did you guys see the papers this morning?

"What can I say?" Martinez said. "I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy."

Maybe that's why Martinez doesn't want to face the Yanks in the playoffs. "I wish they would disappear," he said. "I wish they would disappear and never come back. I'd like to face any other team right now. To pitch a good game, make good pitches and I still can't beat them, it's frustrating."

Looks like Pedro is pretty burnt out at this point. What happened to "Wake the Bambino ? I'll drill him in the ass!" ???

For the record, I think he is a hell of a pitcher. It's nice to see him eat some humble pie though.

:)

Even for the season series, and also for the last 6 games.

Forget the comfy chair, son just called, sick, gotta go get him. 3 hr drive both ways - well, I'll be listening to the game, but no  .

As I was saying, should be a good game . . . and I do prefer the radio commentary.

Mo has 51 saves this year so far. That's more then he has ever had. In his career he's generally topped out at around 94 mph. The only thing that seems different about him this year is that he seems to let emotion get to him which he has never done before. Just like last series in the Bronx when the Sox beat him, he comes in and throws 4 straight balls. He's obviously overthrowing, because they are fastballs up and out of the zone. But no, I'm not really worried about Mo.

I AM worried about Quantrill. He's been used so much, he can't seem to get it done anymore. He has a reputation of having a rubber arm, but even rubber eventually breaks. Yankee bullpen got trounced tonight, and Schilling is pitching tommorow. Oh well, let's see what happens.

Pwnage. We took the season series now, possibly 11-8. I think its the first time in a while that we have done so.

It amazes me that the Yankees have done as well as they have, with their questionable pitching. I don't feel all that happy with Loaiza - well, it's early yet, still 2nd inning.

oops, 5-0.

Hmmm.... Who is gonna win the division???? Do you think it matters a bit who won the season series? Let's see you beat us in the postseason. It's been a long time since that happened, hasn't it?

You will. But that's irrelevant.

Do you think it matters a bit who won the season series?
More than it matters who won the division.

Let's see you beat us in the postseason. It's been a long time since that happened, hasn't it?
It's been a long time since we've beaten you in the season series as well. But that's happened now.

Winning the divison is irrelevant? Are you kidding me? Isn;t that the goal of every team coming out of spring training?

I'd assume the goal of every team coming out of spring training is to win the world series. Winning the division is a step towards that goal, but its not the only step, and the last 2 years have shown it might not even be the best one.

It is a goal, but I think the general feeling at this point is that we'll see you guys again in the ALCS either way. And I'll take the Sox' chances there.
