No, you have to use an "official" 360 memory card for game saves.

The issue about Core vs Premium for me is, I can get a Core for $199. If there are ever really good 360 games, that is a price I'm willing to pay, if the Core isn't so crippled that it can't play those hypothetical games.

That is what my questions are about, whether a Core is worth it, not whether I should spend another $100 for a Premium. Because I won't spend $100 for a 20g hard drive and a wireless controller that ought to cost $20.

If a Core is useless, I'll forget about the 360 until the Premium costs $200.
You can get the Premium now for between $300-$350 through deals at Dell or Overstock.com. I imagine it would be another year at least before you see the Premium version at $200 (after retailer discounts).

Even if you get the Core, you'll still have to spend another $20-$40 (depending on how you get it) for a 64meg memory card. You could probably get the HDD for $60-$100 if you hunt for deals.

You've gotta get the Premium. Demos and downloadable content are now a major part of the xbox. You will be burning hours playing the demos of regular games and also xbox live game demos. And the wireless controllers are great. You'll wonder how anyone plays with wired controllers.

OMGWTFBBQ. My 360 has been running fine since launch until today. I rented Madden 07, booted the system, popped the Madden disk in, booted the game, went to play a quick game and the fvcking system crashed while loading. So, I say "WTF" and I go to reboot my system and I see the damn ring of red around the power button! :|

Now, the system won't even boot properly to the dashboard. Argh! I really hope MS will cover this even though the warranty states 90 days. This is complete bullsh!t if I have to trash this system.

i bought the core cuz I found a good deal on ebay a few weeks after release. However, the bundle I bought came with a wireless controller, HD cables, and a memory card. I ended up selling the card and buying a HDD.

On a seperate note, does anyone know if the Madden 07 rosters will be updated come the start of the regular season? As a big Eagles fan I was bummed to see the lack of their new WR (who shows promise) as well as a few other ommissions.

OMG! MS told me they want $129 to fix the damn system. I am so fvcking pissed right now. I'm going to have to call back during lunch to speak with yet another supervisor. The cost of this sytem is going up to $529 for me. Argh, this system isn't even a fvcking year old. I can't believe MS would start charging so soon. I guess that's what I get for supporting them at launch.

That's what happens when you don't get the extended warranty. The 360 only came with a 90-day warranty...just as previous consoles before it.

Exactly. It's worth the money for the extended warranty thru Microsoft even though it's about a week turnaround before you have a new 360 in your hands. After reading all the reports of everyone's flaking out, I bought mine.

He shouldn't have to pay for this. He has an implied warranty on his 360-state law overrides whatever Microsoft gives for a warranty.

From the Xbox 360 Warranty Info:

Implied Warranty. You may also have an implied warranty and/or condition under the laws of some jurisdictions, which is hereby limited to the duration of the Warranty Period. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty or condition lasts, so the foregoing limitation may not apply to you.

Interesting Article of Note

He should check out implied warranties in his state to see how long they last.

Lots of people have faxed over the implied warranty laws of their state over to Microsoft whenever Microsoft denied their request to fix their 360 after the limited warranty expired.

Ouch man it sucks your 360 broke :(

My 360 broke about a week before the warranty (MS extended launch warranties by 90 extra days, and it was at about the 170th day I owned it) as soon as I downloaded the Burnout Revenge update that was put out. It was all fine until I downloaded the burnout patch. Funny how it's another EA related game that caused my 360 to fvck up and now yours fvcked up from Madden.

Madden 07 blows too, same old crap.

I've been on the Microsoft Xbox support forum all morning and it seems a lot of 360's are going out lately...specifically the last 2 days.

http://forums.xbox.com/9/ShowForum.aspx

I didn't go back more than 9 pages though so I don't know if their forums are constantly getting posts about the ring of red death on 360's, but it's interesting to see people getting the exact same problem the same time I am. :(

I played it for a little while during lunch today. On my first try, I jumped on top of the hood of a jeep. The jeep then crashed into a building. I couldn't get off the hood of the jeep...at all. Then I was surprised to see the jeep explode and me still be alive. I eventually died.

On the second mission, I laughed when immediately after freeing the village, cars appeared on the road and girls in bikini started wandering around the village. Just seemed kind of silly.

I got stuck on the third mission trying to climb up the refinery and gave up there. It was OK. Kind of fun but I'm not sure how much of it was because I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
