For those of you having trouble accessing the rewards site, try this link instead. I got it off of AVSForum and it worked on the first try.

You need the disc from everything I've seen. Pretty sure I was reading something off 1up the other day where MS confirmed the disc is required.
Sounds illogical :/. Only thing you may avoid that way is someone buying Crackdown, keeping Crackdown and selling the Halo 3 key.
Oh and am I reading this XBOX Rewards thing correctly... if I raise my Gamerscore 3 times by increments of 1500, I get Fusion Frenzy 2 for free? If so, I have about 10 XBOX 360 games that I haven't even played yet sitting on my shelf :Q.
Per 1up
I just spoke to our friends at Microsoft about how the beta code will work - and the beta download will require the Crackdown disc to be in the system in order for it to work. It's not simply a piece of downloadable code.

In that case, couldn't I just rent Crackdown to get the Halo3 beta?

It looks like cult-classic Treasure shooter Ikaruga is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, after a download for the game appeared on Microsoft's debug version of Xbox Live.
The shooter was originally released for Dreamcast and Nintendo Gamecube in 2003, and is the spiritual sequel to Saturn blaster Radiant Silvergun. CVG Nintendo's stalwart describes it as "the best scrolling shoot-em-up ever made", but we wouldn't listen to him.
We fired up our Xbox 360 debug machine to get our hands on Ikaruga, but upon firing it up all we recieved was a Treasure logo before the gane decided to crash - and not much more has happened since.
We're keeping our eyes on this one, and will certainly keep you posted for when the first info and screens arrive, which with any luck won't be too long.

ok I just saw that ne wleaked halo 3 footage and it's really making me wonder if the video is even real or not ...
in an EGM article a litlte while back, bungie SPECIFICALLY stated that there will not be a pistol or assault rifle in the game from halo 1. that vid shows an assault rifle and pistol from halo 1.
also notice that the little buggie vehicle is all buggy when driving. i have played a halo 2 mod that let you fly a pelican, something that wasn't even playable at all in the entire real game.
the graphics also look identical to halo 2, nothing better at all.
i'm not saying it isnt' real, but i would not be surprised if this is just some halo 2 mod that people are claiming to be halo 3 footage.

Actually I'm sure I heard there was an Assault rifle in Halo 3 with a smaller clip. That matchmaking screen certainly doesn't look like Halo, but who knows really. There is a rumor about that the H1 pistol skin is said to be back. The video quality for it is poop, hard to tell head from tails on anything.

Red Octane has continually said how excited they are for something like the Xbox Live marketplace, which allows them to breath new life into current releases while working on follow-ups. Guitar Hero 2 on Xbox 360 in April will prove the test bed, and they're charging into it full steam, if an interview with associate producer Ted Lange on IGN is to be believed.
"We're still in the process of confirming the final details and continue to secure more licenses, though nothing has been announced at this time, we can definitely say nobody will be disappointed. We are planning on having more online content than anyone has ever seen in a game to this date."
Here's a thought: could Red Octane possibly release the new songs from Guitar Hero: 80s Edition, thought to be only in development for PlayStation 2, arrive via Xbox Live, eliminating the need for a retail release? Hmm.

So umm, I recently sent my xbox 360 to be repaired and received a refurbished one in return. Fine, it works well. Now fast foward a couple of weeks, and I just received a SECOND system ?!?!? I have no idea why...sooooo I'm quite tempted to say nothing and see if they notice (I'll give it to my brother). Thoughts? There is no indication on the box or the paperwork in it that it was supposed to be sent to anyone else.
