logically and economically they would as who would create and entire line just to make one product, when you can make 3 with only slight variations between them in packaging.

I agree...but it depends on whether the HDMI circuitry replaces the old circuitry or is an add-on. If it is an add-on I definitely see it only being supported on the top model. If it replaces the older Component/composite circuitry...than I see them rolling out HDMI across the line once the 65nm chip gets adopted...of course companies have done a lot less intelligent things before...so I'm not holding my breath.

New GoW patch with new Multiplayer Gametype on the way

The next title update for Gears of War is currently going through the certification process. We'll have more detail about the update next week but I can tell you that in addition to fixing a whole bunch of glitches, and providing 720p for VGA users running at 1280x1024, it will contain a brand new multiplayer gametype called Annex.

Some folks who got to play it a few weeks ago said they think it is our best multiplayer gametype yet but I'll leave it for you fans to decide what you think for yourself when it shows up soon on Xbox Live. More details next week.

'Bout time. New mutiplayer gametypes is exactly what GoW needs.

I guess you are unaware that Halo 2 is by far the most played game on Xbox Live to this day.

The most played Originial Xbox game, that took almost a year to get taken off of that title with the release of Gears of War. Only Gears of War was able to beat out Halo 2 for most played game overall on Xbox Live.

Yah I'm talking about total hours logged into Xbox Live. Halo 2 is ahead by a long shot at the current time. I mean look at these stats ...

That's pretty f'ing good for a game that's been around since 2004.

bad idea.....for $20 more, you can get a PS3. That gives some justification to buying one a stripped dpwn PS3 over an overhauled 360 (parents will not even know the difference). That is what they do not want to do. It seems that the marketing team really did not do their research....

Well, I guess I get to send my 360 away on Monday! I have read about all about many boxes crashing, and I thought I was lucky enough to get a good one - apparently not. Seems like an overheating issue. Hopefully the replacement will at least be quieter. Anybody else have to send theirs in?

HDMI 1.2 only

http://dailytech.com/Xbox+360+Elite+HDMI+Output+Details+Revealed/article6734.htm
Xbox 360 Elite supports HDMI 1.2 profile. For audio, you can select DD, DTS (at 1.5 Mbps), and WMA-Pro (Microsoft high fidelity multi-channel codec supported in some AVRs such as Pioneer). Since it is not based on 1.3, it will not support output of DD+ or TrueHD (even if it did, mixing would have been turned off).

PCM output is available but only for 2-channels (not 5.1). Please, please, don?t say you don?t like this. There is nothing you are going to say which we don?t know . Our goal was to provide a digital connection for video which people wanted for some of their TVs. And of course, single cable A/V connection. So if having analog video bothered you before, you can now use digital. If you lacked component/VGA on your TV, you are in business with Xbox 360 Elite.

Well look at the difference in time that Halo 2 has had to gain an audience while GoW has only been out for < 6 months. It was a great game that I would still be playing if it wasn't for GoW.

I also heard about Gamestop and Microsoft teaming up to do a trade in for people that had Premium 360s. If that is true then that would make the transition a lot easier. I think they would do it to gain back the consoles that did not have the crazy haxor protection on it, such as the epoxy around the chip to keep from modding.

It may be a mark against 360 but they are at least offering HDMI in their console now and maybe the studios will not be putting the down conversion flag over analog sources because of these Xbox 360s with 1080p component output.

No 5.1 LPCM over HDMI is weak; when they chose to do HDMI they should have done it right, or not bothered to do it at all.

Screenshots of new character packs for Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

4 new heroes - Cyclops, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Nightcrawler
4 playable villains - Magneto, Sabretooth, Dr Doom, and Venom

I'm still not clear how you can play Dr Doom considering he is the main baddie of the story. Whatever...Hulk, Venom, and Magneto =

Cool! I rented the game and finished it, and was thinking of buying it since it's a fun game. I'll most likely pick it up now

MS Improves Warranty Service

Microsoft announced today it is improving the warranty for the Xbox 360 as well as adding new customer services.

"We recently announced that we changed the Xbox 360? warranty in the United States and Canada from 90 days to one year from the date of purchase. Now we're adding additional service enhancements, taking Xbox 360 customer service one step further."

The enhancements include Free Shipping, so when your console needs to be returned to Microsoft for repair your shipping costs are free; and Post-Service Warranty:

"If we repair your Xbox 360 within the original warranty period, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will now pay for the shipping both ways.

If we repair your Xbox 360 after the warranty period has expired, while you will be responsible for the repair costs, your repaired console will be returned to you with a new, one year repair warranty." original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will now pay for the shipping both ways.

Additionally, Microsoft is implementing an expedited repair process that guarantees that upon receipt of the console, they will repair it and ship it to you within five business days. The company is also increasing the number of Xbox customer care representatives
