Try online if it is a red one that you are going for. I'm having no look in UK, nothing above the 846x on the black Elite front, which I saw 3 months ago. Pretty lame really. Online you can get the red jaspers though.

I agree buddy, I really want the black one. The 846x FDOU Elites are about in my area. I have seen a number of different stores with them. So the 847s can't be far away (I'm speculating that they will hit at 847 or 848). At least it is better than the 835 which seemed to be everywhere up until very recently. I contribute to this thread and also a couple on Xbox.com so I'm hoping to hear about them as soon as they are seen in the wild. If I get news of one I'll drop you a message on Xbox Live.

Same, but I think I'm going to give up and just buy a Jasper Pro and then pick up a black faceplate for $10 off of eBay. I'd like the extra hard drive space (and I might need that extra dongle so that I can get HDMI output and digital optical audio output), but I've grown weary of waiting.

I have a bit of a dilemma: I get an extra discount off the purchase if I buy by April 26 (20% off instead of my normal 10% employee discount). So, do I buy a black Elite for the cheaper price, and then hang onto it for up to 90 days still in its sealed box, which would allow me to exchange it for a Jasper Elite? If it's true that they might be discontinued, I'm SOL. Otherwise, I could get a Jasper Pro and be playing in a week.

Or do I buy one of each and wait a couple months, returning the one I don't keep (exchanging the Elite if the Jasper Elites every appear)? ~ $700 tied up in console hardware for a couple months... Ugh!

I'm not in any hurry, since I won't have much free time for gaming until the summer. But by early June, I'd like to have a playable system that I can keep.

I had a similar issue the a couple of weeks ago. My dilema was do I jump in and buy an Xbox Elite (Falcon) while the price is temporarily reduced (£224) at my chosen store. Or, do I hold out until the Jaspers are confirmed and then buy at what could be a £30 higher price. Well, I couldn't settle for a Falcon when I have waited this long for a Jasper. So I waited and just assumed that there may be a special price a couple of months down the line. Lucky I did wait as Game put the prices up for 2 weeks and then lowered them to £209 (below the previous temporary reduction) which is a pretty good price. The Pro is only £20 cheaper which says to me that they are seriously trying to push the Elite out of the door. Makes me wonder if we will ever see black Jaspers as they may be discontinuing the Elite.

On your quandry, I would say if you can wait then you may want to ignore the extra 10% discount offered. How much would it equate to, $40, not really that much.

I've seen multiple rumors to this effect now. Microsoft may be going to "Special Edition" elites only in the future. Of course these are all unconfirmed rumors, but from observations it may be true.

i was holding out for a jasper black elite without luck. plus, i grew very impatient and decided to grab the red elite, and to be honest with you, it's growing on me. it actually looks nice next to all my other devices including a PS3. it runs very quiet and cool. hopefully, the jasper chip will be the solution to RROD. good luck to the rest of you guys.

Yeah, just saw that Quad, lets hope it gets the Falcon consoles out of the channel so we can finally get a Jasper, and some games to play (or ebay).

I'm happy to report my red Jasper is still going strong, no problem with it, besides it's very slow at times but that's probably because of NXE or my lack of hard drive space. It has never frozen since I bought it at march 13th. I'm a bit disappointed about the controller though because the right analog stick is squeaking when I tilt it horizontally, I don't know if should just let it be or if I should contact Microsoft and send the controller to Germany, 2000km away, and wait 3 weeks for a new one which will probably have the same problem. I wish I could just go to Gamestop and get a new one but when I bought the console they said something about a 21 day warranty or something, so that sucks...

Hey guys!! It's been a while (January?) since I posted on the Jasper forum.

My Jasper Pro 60GB has been rock solid since December. I am very happy with the purchase so far.

It's really sad that there hasn't been a black Jasper discovery yet. Don't give up hope! If they're making them for the RE5 bundle, then at least you know the boards exist.

Has anyone opened up a RE5 system yet to see if there were any differences in motherboards compared to the PRO?

I am keeping the faith and holding out for a black Jasper. Luckily the stores near me have reduced the prices of the black Elites, so when they do show I won't have to shell out as much cash. I am a little concerned about the rumours that MS are gonna discontinue the Elite, I hope I bag one before they do. I post on a number of forums and nobody has come close to a decent LOT number though which worries me. The highest I have seen are the ones that I have seen personally (846x). The only newer ones out there seem to be the red Elites, and the bundles for them are rubbish. They are only offering the RE5 game and it is higher in price than a black Elite with an extra controller and Lego Indy + Kung Fu Panda. Can't say I am too bothered about those games either, but the extra controller makes it a damn compelling purchase, especially at £20 LESS than the RE5 red Elite. So if MS do stop making the black one, I just hope they decided it AFTER a few Jaspers were built.

Not seen anyone opening up a red Jasper.

I finally decided to just purchase a new 360 after my Xenon has failed me repeatedly for the last 6 months. After the x-clamp fix and various cooling mods it would work for a while and then just stop (RROD again or just video glitches). I got tired of dealing with it and went out looking for a Jasper arcade console. First store I went to and first one I looked at ended up being a Jasper. So either I got pretty lucky or are the Jasper arcades pretty common now?

Notice that "limited edition" is used to described the bundle, which includes and Xbox 360 Elite console... it sounds like the console itself is not going the "limited edition" way afterall.

I already have those 2 games, but I'll buy it anyway... there's always e-bay.

The story is on Gamespot now, too. I wonder how this fits in with E3, which is at the beginning of June this year. Would they drop the price if Sony does the same? Even if they are Jaspers, it seems like a smart idea to wait the extra month until E3 is over, just in case.

I decided to get the Elite 6 months ago and I've being waiting for a Jasper ever since.

At this point I'll be getting it in May regardless of a possible price drop in E3. Another thing they might be considering for E3 (and this is purely speculation on my side) is an increase of hard drive size... like 120 GB for the Pro and 250 GB for the Elite.

Either way I just want HDMI+120GB+Jasper+Black to upgrade my original Zephyr console.

And since I already own Halo 3 and Fable II, I'll get some of the money back selling those titles through eBay or GameStop.

Bad news from my research, I have had word from a friend that the company he works for has run out of any stock of Elites and they cannot confirm they will be getting anymore in. Those nasty rumours could be true.

As long as the bundles are Jaspers, there's really no downside to the Elite being available only in special editions, is there? Same price, but you get bonus games... no?

NC Gamestop, got Elite Halo3/Fable2 bundles today. Had employee to check one of the lot numbers. Looking at the system itself, not the sticker on side of box.

No Jasper on that one, lets hope their all not repackaged.
