I am so stoked. I just purchased a Jasper yesterday (My 5th Xbox 360) from Walmart here in Fredericton NB. I bought a Xbox 360 back in October 2008 when people weren't really sure on how to spot a Jasper(The whole lot number ordeal). After a month I returned it as the wireless controller would not stay connected to the Xbox 360 and have been waiting for 4mths to finally get another one. For any of you who are interested the team was CSON, Manufacture date was Nov 26, 2008, Lot number was 0847X, 12.1A and a 150 Watt brick. I have checked all of the stores around the city and this was the first time I saw one here in the Maritimes. Woo hoo!!

quick question if anyone here works in a shop that sells xbox's can someone check their stock on the red elites to see if they actually say 12.1? cuz I know Major nelson basically said yeah Jasper, but it would be nice to see more than 1 Jasper Red Elite!

Those Elites give me fresh hope that I will see some before next year. It is highly frustrating for me that I have seen a boat load of 846x and checked a ton of them. None were Jasper. I was only a week out. Although at least they cannot be too far away. Trouble is they are not gonna arrive at my local Game for a while and the special price stops this thursday. That means I am gonna have to pay the higher price. At this point can I advise any buyer at a gaming store chain to hold back on the orders if they know a revision is due. That way, when the new ones do hit, you have the latest greatest stock. Everyone shops at your store and you get to clean up.

In the meantime I will keep my eyes out for an 847x Elite.

Also, does anyone know what team are making the red boxes. If they were CSON then I may just jump on that one so that I can have a higher chance of the quieter fans. I am 99% sure that they are all Jaspers as they were probably made around the start of this year. December onwards is good as far as Jasper is concerned.

What was it, Arcade, Pro, Elite? Also, what fans does it have and is it fairly quiet?

It is a Holiday Bundle- Pro Console. I am not too sure what type of fans that it has but it is waaaaaaaaaaaaay more quieter than any other Xbox 360 that I have owned. When I put in Gears 2 today it hardly made a sound. When I played Gears 2 on my other console back in Oct 2008, it sounded like a Boeing 747 taking off!!

Well I've been happily gaming with my Jasper Arcade 360 after my launch 360 died for literally a month (I got the Jasper on Feb 6th -- manuf. date of Dec 18, 2008). I've experienced 3 freezes now and each time was quicker than the previous one. I've tried both running the game off the disc and playing from the HDD... still froze on me. Is this a sign it's going bad? :(

EDIT: Apparently it appears to be an issue with the actual game itself. Star Ocean: The Last Hope is reported to cause freezing. *sigh* At least it's not my 360.

Wow that's odd, with a picture of the box with the black elite too. I've never heard of a black RE5 bundle, and it hasn't been announced by Microsoft. Maybe it's just a photoshop-job?

It's easy to determine which fans you've got in you Xbox 360. just look through the ventilation holes on the back of the console and check what colour the labels/stickers are on the fans.

there are 3 different type of fans.
* Delta - Black and white label
* Sunons - Green and white label
* Nidec - All back label

Hello, been watching this thread for a while now, like many of you, have been holding off buying an Elite until the Jaspers turn up.

Saying that, I'm getting a bit fed up of waiting so feel like just splashing out and buying one now, but then I'd be really annoyed if I'd waited all this time and they start popping up all over in a few weeks time...

Anyway, according to this article http://www.fudzilla.com/index....view&id=12430&Itemid=1 it's possible that Elites are going to be discontinued soon, or only available in limited bundles. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but worth thinking about.

The only reason I really want the Elite over the 60GB model is the black colour to match everything else in my media unit, but I'm now torn between just buying a black Falcon Elite or starting the hunt for a Jasper 60GB. Decisions, decisions...

So i was at my Gamestop store where my peordered red Xbox RE5 Elite Bundle arrived. They will sell it to me at Friday but i could have a look on it. It's red and it has 12.1 A!

Did you happen to check which team produced it? I'm thinking it could be CSON, in which case it may be more likely to have the Nidec fans.

By the way, just off topic but I could do with an answer, if I purchase an Arcade game via my gold account linked to my gamertag can other people using the console have access to the game or do I have to buy the thing twice. I'm really hoping not, seems a bit cheeky if they make you do that.

On the console where you first purchased the content any user can access it.. the gamertag which purchased it can also re-download the same content on other Xbox(s) but it will only work on those consoles if you are signed into Xbox Live with that gamertag..

Hey guys I too have also been waiting for the black elite seeing as mine has rrod twice and I have brought it back to life with the tor (towel of resurection) but it is starting to freeze while I am playing. So here is my question, is it possible to buy the arcade unit and just swap the shells.

My brother had the same suggestion. I'm not sure, but I would think it would work. Of course it would be hard to send it in for repairs.

I see no reason why you couldn't do it, but as Quad says, I wouldn't like to have to send it in for repair. It would surely void the warranty (even with the Jasper I would not advise voiding the warranty).

Just toying with the idea ogf ordering an Elite online from my chosen retailer and hoping it is a Jasper. I would not even need to open it, so they surely wouldn't have any issue with me returning it. that special offer price (£35 reduction) is just so tempting, and it expires thursday evening. (good god, that is tomorrow!). Has anyone here had any decent elite LOT numbers from Game in the UK?

just heads up for any Canadians on here, there have been a bunch of Jaspers spotted in Canada in the pro range in the last week or so, I saw a whole pile myself in Best Buy in Surrey, BC all confirmed 12.1 and lot numbers 847x so although this doesn't help the Elite situation, this is greta news for Canadians that have been waiting like myself!

So finally i got my XBox Elite RE5 Bundle yesterday evening. It's a 12.1A Jasper with a 150Watt Powerbrick. The Box was packed by Team Adue at LOT:0908!!! The XBox itself has a MFD 2009-01-16, so it seems that the Box was made many time before the XBox was manufactured. The fans have a white sticker, so i think they are deltas. The new OS was NOT preinstalled so i have to update manually.

Hello! I have been following this thread for a little while now since I am looking after an Elite Jasper.
Today while doing some hardware shopping at the local MediaMarkt I ran across the red RE5 Elites. For some reason I forgot to check the team/dates/voltages but I will go back tomorrow to do so. If the rumors of the discontinuation of the Elite are true I will have to buy it, although I would prefer the black one.
I will return with more info.

By the way, I live in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Why do you "have" to buy it? This is what I don't understand... You want the elite, but you'll take red anyway as long as it's an elite. So what exactly is it about the elite that you like?? Cause you could even save some money buying an arcade and the 120GB hard disk on the side, if the storage is what you're wanting... If it's the color I understand, (but if you're willing to take a red one, then that's not it), but if not, then this whole elite thing is junst pointless....

No, the Arcade + 120Gb hard drive would cost a bit more than the Elite, at least here it does. And it is also the color. I have never really liked the white Xbox, the black Elite looks just sweet but if I can't get that one I will settle for a red one. Just as long as it isn't white and it has a 120Gb drive I'm happy, and Jasper of course! :)
