And you would know this having taken apart many of them. 🙂 Thanks for clearing that up !!! Any luck on the Falcon / Jasper heat analysis?
Because of the holidays, $$$ has been tough to come by. Getting the wife acceptance certificate for a $35 RC thermal sensor has been tough....but I'm working or her. 🙂
Doing the heat comparison is definitely on my short list of projects.....I've been dealing with a rebooting wireless router for about two weeks and that has my attention right now. Getting kicked off XBOX live and Guild Wars from a rebooting router sux!!!!
On a somewhat Jasper relater matter...I almost freaked out last night when my 4-year old was playing lego batman and during the game the xbox FROZE UP....no way to get out of it unless I turned the unit off. Fearing I maybe had done something wrong with my x-clamp removal or a bad GPU I took the game out...cleaned it, and tried it again. The game froze at almost the exact same place in the game!!! So I pulled out the game and popped in assasin's creed. Over an hour later and no freezes....so I'm thinking it must be the disc.
I'm always looking for more xbox live friends....my gamer tag is Daht Kahm
DON'T GIVE UP HOPE JASPER HUNTERS!! Patience and dertimination will prevail!!!

Anyway....NO, there is nothing wrong with your XBOX 360. In the front, by the memory card ports there is a cage that houses a small ball. My speculation is that this is the sensing unit that detects when your XBOX is vertical or horizontal.
All 360's will have that rattle sound......

I'm curious...Why would it need to know if it was vertical or horizontal? Anyone know?

This thread motivated me to buy my first Xbox 360. I went after the Arcades not for lack of money, but for a higher probability of finding a Jasper with a 150 watt PS. My first stop at Walmart, while buying some oil, yielded only older Pro's. I hit Best Buy next and they had about four arcades 0845X's, one old unit, and a couple from the repack teams. I grabbed a 0845X from TEAM CSON that had a 12.1 on the 12V rail. It was part number XGX-00019 with the appropriate value pack bundle 2008 e. When I got it home I opened it up and found it had the 150 watt PS brick. MFR Date 11-15-2008.
I feel like a kid again.

Again with the XGX-00019 part number. Will I definitely get a Jasper if I order this unit (with part number XGX-00019) from Dell or New Egg? Help, pls!
