"cool" air coming out the back is not really a good indicator. Maybe it's ok if you're comparing side by side to a Falcon, but otherwise it's extremely unreliable to go on memory.

the manufacturing team is never directly printed on the console itself, although the font on the label from the back of the console is different for FDOU vs CSON. FDOU is a smaller font than CSON.
 
The MFG date is in fact printed on my console, the Lot # and Team were printed on the box that it came in.

I purchased mine thru Dell.com for $254 w/Pro Holiday Bundle.

**CORRECTION** - The air wasn't cool exactly it was what I would call "Luke Warm". Just seemed cool compared to statements made by others at this site and various others.
 
Just joined here, but was a long time lurker at the blog.

Can I ask with regards to the current Falcons, which manufacturer codes, teams are the earliest to guarantee the v3 revision (the version with the memory relocated to aid in air flow through the case).

As I was wanting to get a Jasper, but with the suggestion from the poster from Argentina that you may not see it until July 2009 due to the economic downfall, I was thinking about getting a temp Arcade as I have a 10% off voucher to use so £117 isn't bad, but want to get the best there currently is currently available.

(knowing my luck the Jasper will be released a week after I do though).
 
I have a CSON 0840x arcade model that I bought in Japan. After a few weeks of heavy use I got the RROD. I fixed it with the towel trick but I assume it will crap out on me within a few days. This is only anecdotal but indicates that it's probably not a jasper.
 
Hey fellas. Saw what happened at 8-bits place. Hopefully things will be back to basics around here. Shame no Jaspers have turned up yet...all we can do is keep looking. ^_^
 
Was wondering if AF XBOXER's CSON #842 has the mysterious "X" at the end of the lot number. I was holding out till the Jaspers were readily available but my XBOX just E74 on me so I will be purchasing an XBOX soon hopefully it will be a Jasper!
 
Out searching again today! I went to two Target stores in hopes of the "JASPER"! No luck. I only found a few Pros with a lot number of 0837, an Elite with 0831 and an Arcade with 0840X. I'm looking for an Elite so I think I'm going to be looking for a while!

Update on my end.

My Best Buy just magically received quite a few Lot: 0841X CSON Elites.
All the Arcades have disappeared as i guess they were all bought out today.

So Stock is indeed moving fast this week folks. Hang your head up high cause the Jasper is hopefully gonna make its way here soon.

P.S. Best Buy is in Florence KY
 
Pics are coming. I snapped several last night, gonna take the S/N off and upload tonite. Didn't notice the "X" at the end of the lot number, but I also wasn't looking. Will look tonite.

Ouch that sucks. Not happy to hear that a 360 as new as 840 is still having issues. Despite the fact that we're all Jasper hunting, I thought the newer Falcons were pretty reliable too.
 
Just got the delayed Tomb Raider Bundle from amazon Germany... it's an ADUE repack, but the newest console I have seen in Germany so far as it's 840.... Nevertheless I already caved in and bought a 838 FDOU Elite on Friday in a local MediMax store ... so the Pro is going back to where it came from 🙂

For what its worth, my 839X plays quietly and the air coming out the back was luke warm at best playing 2 hours of COD4 online. I'm happy w/ my purchase - but still aching to see a Jasper so we can know what all the hullabaloo is about.

That is my goal to find an Elite CSON 841x or newer.
I hope to see one in SoCal.
 
Fry's in Austin TX had a FDOU 843x Elite Holiday Bundle in stock when I went by there this morning. Didn't pick it up though since a) no one seems to know what the X means, and B) I took a chance on 'freshness' and ordered a Pro Bundle from Dell. Just too hard to pass up 25 % off with the sale they had the other day and my employee discount. The Pro is only going to cost me $250 delivered and if it craps out I can deal with it for that little amount of money.

Besides, I'll have a spare after returning my original launch unit due to a E74 error I got Saturday (well it's not the 'original' this will be my third warranty replacement).

I ordered from dell a couple days back and got a call today saying that it wont ship until the first, any idea why? Also, nice discount I am buying a pro for 5 bucks more, with the 15%.

Really? I ordered my yesterday and it's schedule to ship tomorrow. I got the pro version too, but only for $160. 😀

I used the dell 15% coupon off which expires yesterday.

That brought the prices down to 270 including taxes.

And on Ebay yesterday morning, there was a seller that sells dell's $100 gift card for $60.

So I bought 2 of them through ms live cash back for $120 but I got $30 back, which equal to $90.


I called dell and they were able to combine the giftcard and the discount code.

So, 270 - 200 giftcard = 70.

70+ 90 (price for the giftcard) = 160


The seller have 10 available yesterday, and I check ebay about 3 hrs ago and he had 10 more, but sold out now though.

They shipped my plug and play pack today lol. So at least I will have that before December.

They told me they would ship next day too, then the next day they updated it to the first. I got a call from dell today asking me if I want to cancel, I am really debating it. I can go to Target and get it for 230 (299 - 60 GC) and a friend has employee discount for another 10% so 299-90 isn't bad.
