BRAZIL vs ENGLAND
SENEGAL vs TURKEY
GERMANY vs USA
SPAIN vs KOREA

As i see it, Brazil, Senegal, Germany and Spain will advance to the semis... any comments?

BRAZIL vs ENGLAND
Brazil will win, england defense has made a lot of errors in this World Cup. Brazil defense is no great either but they make up in their offense.

SENEGAL vs TURKEY
Senegal, Turkey are good but senegal are really fast and their forwards are awesome.

GERMANY vs USA
I want USA to win but on paper, it would be Germany. USA offense could improve a little more.

SPAIN vs KOREA
Korea, the home support is so overwhelming, also Spain have not made it beyond any semifinal so this time, who knows they might not get past quarterfinals?

If they'd stop running with a 2-5-3 setup, they'd be more effective against GER. I'd like to see them with a 3-4-3. Their offense wasn't the problem with MEX, it was the D. Sure they held them to a shutout, but that was thanks to the GK. MEX had way too many shot chances to be acceptable.

Beau6183, you can't rely on history alone though, as France, Argentina and Italy wouldn't have been eliminated by historically lesser teams...

Oh, I agree completely. This WC has been nothing but a dream series for the US and Korea; filled with upsets for the giants. That's why I predict that the US will make it to third place.

Beau hmmm...well.... although Germany are far from unbeatable, I just don't think that USA has what it takes to beat them in 90 minutes. If it goes into overtime or PKs then USA will win, not a doubt, but in 90 mins its either a tie or a 1-0 or 2-1 German victory IMO...

Brazil vs England will be absolutely awesome! I hope we (BRA) win! :)

no doubt about it! Kahn is the best goalkeeper in the World Cup... he isn't invincible though...

true. he's only given up one goal in 4 games so far though. in the 90th minute against ireland.
that's decent goalkeeping i would say. no matter who you play, 1 goal allowed in 4 games is good.

What mistakes? In 4 games, England has given up ONE goal. Brazil has given up three including two to Costa Rica and let me tell you, shutting out China is NOT an accomplishment.
SENEGAL vs TURKEY
Senegal, Turkey are good but senegal are really fast and their forwards are awesome.
Don't believe the hype. If you want to REALLY see an overachieving team kick some ass, start rooting for Turkey.

True enough, but the games aren't played on paper. At this point in the tournament, underdogs are VERY dangerous.
SPAIN vs KOREA

Spain is the ultimate World Cup choker. Can they overcome history and 60,000 screaming Red Devils?

brazil scored 13 goals and allowed 3, thats 13:3 = 4.3 goals scored for every one let in...

England has 5:1 = 5 goals scored for every one let in...

The winner between England and Brazil will be World Champion. When Beckham is 100% fit, he can lift his team to new heights, as we saw against Denmark.

Thats so true... unless Spain can shape up in time...

When Beckham is 100% fit, he can lift his team to new heights, as we saw against Denmark.

Then again that could be argued for the Ronaldo-Rivaldo-Ronaldinho Gaucho trio... by far the best offence in the cup... alone responsible for 10 of Brazil's 13 goals... which is twice more than the whole English squad could muster...
rolleye.gif

as seen in the NBA with the Mavs, offence alone can't win, but soccer tends to favour offence more than bball and also Brazil' D isn't as bad as some of the other teams' and Marcos, the keeper, is pretty darned good!

LOL -In truth this type of analysis doesn't work. The two teams' styles are so different. England was happy with a tie against Nigeria, and the game turned boring. Brazil is never boring. They may have a bad game and lose by 3 goals, but more often than not they play effective enough defense and just score...

Cmon Friday!

England has made a lot of errors in the defense area. The deal is that the opposite team is not able to capitalize on them. Imagine making a mistake when the 3R's(Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho) are there. Yesterday Italy made a mistake and they were penalized by a team like Korea. You can only imagine what brazil will do.

GERMANY vs USA
Germany (but USA has some chances as Germany is not playing very well)

SPAIN vs KOREA

Brazil sucks at defense. even China had some scoring chances, so I'll have to go with England... Owen can probably pull up some nice goals

Germany is NOT mexico and if US plays like they did against mexico they WILL lose. I'm sick of the coach and his tactics. ohhhh wait, it was like that in Korea vs US 1-1, Poland won 3-1 (MY POINT), Mexico vs US 0-2

Senegal's offensive capability will outrun turkish defense and winning the match.

Korea will *probably* win, given that spain isn't that great anyway.

you havent seen bierhoff cuz hes been on the bench. beats me why though vuz jancker (the big fella) absolutely stinks.

neways after all the criticism germany's been receiving this week its unlikely that they will continue to be complacent and play badly... i seriously think voeller has something up his sleeve for this game...
