Forlan is awesome.

🙂

I hope France fail against Mexico tomorrow. Would love to see them get eliminated, as they cheated their way into the tournament anyway.

Well that settles it, Germany is going to win the world cup.

while a good bet, the first round isnt exactly indicative of the end result.

based on history, its safe to say that RSA, Greece, Nigeria, Algeria, Serbia, Australia, Cameroon, Denmark, N Korea, Honduras, and Spain won't win.

No team that lost its first round game has even won it all, only 3 that have lost in the frist round have ever made it to the finals.

of those that have lost, Denmark looked good, I didnt see Nigeria play, or cameroon. N Korea looked 'good', but mostly to tie alot of games

Nigeria played a decent game.

Fifa can pretty much fuck off after their ridiculous crackdown on the "orange girls"

Not only is this extremely dubious to outlaw this, but how they overreacted and roughed the girls is offensive. I will now proceed to try even harder to ignore this VM-nonsense.

FIFA can't outlaw anything. It's up to the host nation to enforce its own laws.

The rule of law isn't exactly strong or uniform in South Africa. Just what you're going to get when you have a tournament there. Want civil liberties? Stop awarding international events like this to places like SA, China, etc.

hockey rinks are smaller and have boards

indoor soccer(on a hockey rink) is much higher scoring that outdoor soccer

a soccer field is 300 ft by 210 ft versus 200 ft by 85 ft for hockey.

hockey has way more substitutions, infinite versus 3, which also increase game speed

The point is that you could change the rules to increase the number of chances and goals. I know that it will never happen, that's why I'll continue to prefer hockey.

I would expect that if scoring increased, the number of "barely missed goals" would increase as well.

The dearth of scoring in professional soccer seems to be no issue for its many fans, so it will not change. It doesn't do it for me though. I'd rather watch a sport like hockey which has a more reasonable number of goals, but constant attacks.

The thing about soccer is, you really need to be a real fan, to suffer with your team.
And because goals are rather rare the underdog almost always has a chance to win by a lucky punch. It makes soccer prone to surprises which makes it much more interesting for fans of not so good teams.

If you watch 2 teams play not minding which one will win, then it is just boring in probably 90% of all matches. There are some rare matches that are quite entertaining even if you don't mind but most are not.

Damn Roger Federer (Switzerland) just keeps beating Rafael Nadal (Spain).

haha. That happens if you play on gras and not on sand. 😀

BTW it was pretty cool here last night, check out the pictures:

Wow, looks pretty cool over there. I was hoping the article would be available in Italian too so I could actually read it, but the pictures are awesome.

Damn Gonzalo Higuain kicked ass. Nice to see a hat trick. I didn't watch the game, but did South Korea play that bad?

Just completely outclassed. First tourney hat trick! Still the manner in which South Korea scored should be a concern for Argentina. That shit should never happen.

Maradona might still survive this.
