I think the red card was because he was leading the tackle with both lefs and from behind or side ... I can see why the ref gave a red, but in replay it should have only been a yellow.

yeah I thought he pulled himself back enough that a yellow would suffice.



however, I am still pissed that brit douche didnt get ATLEAST a yellow for going into howard toes up.

toes up is often a red card because it shows intention to hurt.

and he clealy missed the ball by a good 18+ inches

My opinion on the Cahill red card is that it was excessive.

But I have to think the ref didn't do it on his own. Fifa probably told him during half time to red card an Australian player if they didn't stop punking out. The way things were going someone was going to get injured for sure.

They did seem to be acting like goons and it was inevitable somone was going to be sent off. Still was bit crazy for it to be a straight red like that.

yeah I def wondered if they realized it wasnt a rugby match at a few points.

its really given a green light to 'not screw up' and make it to the second round with AUS missing its best goal scorer. They beat AUS and they are in like Flynn because I dont see Serbia beating Australia and Germany.
