:( I have a horrible feeling that might come to pass

Only if it goes to penalty kicks - they're like kryptonite to England.

The USA really tore it up last night in a warm-up match against Morroco.

Final Score: Morroco 1 USA 0

Not a good omen...

Yeah, I'm sure a match the USA lost in the last minute on a stupid misplay by the 7th sub who wouldn't sniff the field in a real World Cup match AND playing without their best player for most of the match really has the US shaking in their boots.
Well, first off ALL warm-up games are meaningless. However, Morroco is not known for its soccer and the US should have man handled them. Losing was just weak... That said, they were straight out of Bruce Arena's brutal training camp and seemed very tired. They had MUCH fresher legs in their last game.

Mexico 1 - Netherlands(Holland) 2

game started very positive for mexico, they had their starting lineup out there, and holland had their second string out there. Mexico dominated and scored around the 30 min. mark with a header from borgetti. Mexico ended the half with a strong defense, and ok midfield retention. holland looked outclassed.

second half starts, holland changed goalies, and basically took everybody out that was second string except for their #1 striker (he never came into the match), mexico changed out entire midfield (to experiment) and added ramon morales on top, they looose midfield alltogether, they do not have the ball at all (loose it on every pass) and the defense is holding on by a thread. After 8 min of hard in your face attacking holland scores off a header, 8 more min of this intense push to score, and holland scores again (same way cross shot that goes thru a bunch of defenders). mexico changes up midfield again, they finally have some retention of the ball. Holland is exhausted and does not do much of anything for rest of game, mexico is not tired and almost scores 3 times (holland had good goalie now). Mexico's Ramon Morales(5'4") looked like a flea up against the holland team, it looked like a 6th grader playing hehe but man that guy can shoot the ball like no tommorow, that's why mexico's offense is deadly from the left side.

overall they showed that they are still tweaking their midfield, but stupid mistakes on defense are the reasons they lost (they need to calm down), offense is hit and miss, but borgetti seems to be in psynch, and fonseca needs more game time. Oswaldo (goalie) made some key saves that could of ended up with holland scoring 4 goals, one was a place kick from 10 ft from the penalty area that went straight for the crossbars and he pushed it out, there was another play where he was 1 on 1 with a holland striker and made him miss, there was another play where he somehow got his hand up in a nick of time to stop a vicious shot from the left (hopefully he does not do what he did with korea ever again). they have one more match against some german university on saturday then the big dance with Iran on sunday 11th.

that's my quick recap, exiting game against a world powerhouse, it helped Holland that they where at home, and it was their sendoff match for the Wold Cup. but no excuses hehe ;)

the thing the goalie did with korea was, that he threw the ball to a korean player and the guy scored. the reason being that he thought the play was whistled dead (offsides) and he threw the ball infront of him to kick the ball from the spot of the foul. korean guy did no hear anything and kicked it in......sooooooo embarassing

England Destroyed Jamaica today. Another worthless warm-up match but at least Crouchie got to do his dance again.

Prediction: English bars will be filled with drunks doing the robot for the next two months.

Yeah, it was a good showing. Wish I lived back in England right about now...

Brazil over New Zealand 4-0. Brazil looked good, but their defense was not really tested. Kaka was most definitely the best on the field. He played Superb. Ronaldo was substituted because of blisters forming from his new Nike spikes. Goals were scored by Ronaldo (43), Adriano (51), Kaká (86), Pernambucano Juninho (90).

Interesting stuff - hopefully we'll get to see their defence given a good test at some stage during the World Cup

well, there are some good points there. Totti needs a good tournament after what he did at Euro 2004 and it will be interesting to see how the corruption scandal affects the team. Ideally I'd like to see the Czech Republic and US qualify from Group D but think it will ultimately be the Czech Republic and Italy going through.

Uhm. Some points are "personal oppinion" at best but the Italians have a solid defense, that's true. I've heard Totti is a nice guy in private and even a benefactor, but how he acts on the field is another story. He's the most-fouled player in Italy's Serie A.

Their actor talent and moods may vary. But I'd take some band-aid to the game against Italy because the Squadra Azurra won't be prissy.

You're supposed to laugh. It's humor. :p

Here's another one. If you can't tell, I'm getting geared up to root against the Azzuri in Kaiserslautern (yes, I'm going to the match).

They don't press, they don't gamble, they don't improvise. They take their time, build slowly through midfield, emphasize sound technique and discipline. Oh, and they get results

Soca Warriors baby
