i think part as lefty said. work have changed. where most had ot do phsycial work to survive and there was limited food.

now most jobs have people sitting or standing in one place. Not to mention the amount of real physcial work around the house has gone down.

then the meat we eat has major additives and growth hormones etc etc.

Just wanted to get in before the lock. Countdown 1, 2, 3...

That also used to be bannable behavior.

Seriously? I did it because I've seen it so often.

you will quickly learn that doesn't mean jack. i got banned for something that was said hundreds of times before and even happens occasionally afterwards.

It is amazing to see how 100 years ago, fat people were considered afluent and attractive, now the opposite is true. Emaciated people look attractive to us. ;)

Waggy seems right. We've reached the height of our evolutionary development. Life is a struggle for food needed to survive.

We've evolved to the point that we are able to overfeed ourselves.

I think emaciated people look creepy, essentially emaciated looks unhealthy and close to death. I'll choose the middle road.

that is true..look at paintings and sculptures...most were what we would consider overweight.

although back then you had to be affluent in order to achieve that look.

Basically because most people tend to eat more and gain more weight, without even thinking of eating healthier foods.

And second, they do not get enough exercise to maintain or lower their weight. Otherwise, becoming obese may lead to serious health problems in the future.

Same here. I am talking about as a culture though where supermodels and super thin people are supposed to be the most attractive to us. It is kind of funny actually.

I am pretty middle of the road too.

1) no portion control
2) everything is processed
3) chemical/hormone additives
4) hydrogenization
5) high fructose corn syrup

in summary people are fat because they eat alot of food with low nutritional content.

I do not know a single fat person (with a sedentary or active lifestyle) that has a clean natural food diet with reasonable portion control.

Processed foods are our worst enemy. I'm shocked what schools feed children for lunch when a reduced fee lunch program is in place.

Nachos with a hydrogenated artificial cheese sauce. Gross!

Wow, a thread thats not all bashing, at least not much, and people really talking things out maturely, I must be seeing things
Dare I say, Impressed, but Im sure it will not last long, the ones are that want to say sh!t are sweating and shaking badly and dying to just bust out and prove how better they are or have to do it to feel better of them self because they put someone down ;)

Either that or scared to hell about being banned, which Im surprised the OP had the balls to make this, even with the revised heading, or missed out on the last 2 days.

Edit
Saw the mods reply in the op, oh man the haters got to be sh!tting their pants right about now that the mods left this open, wanting to type something in here :p

As for being fat, I been overweight since the age of 5 or 6. I was a skinny child, till then, never changed my eating habits then whamo I got fat. My older brother could eat what ever and not gain a lb, but not me, I eat very little and I gain. I eat a lot and gain a lot. TillI hit 350 and it it stoped. No matter how much I ate or how little I ate I never gained or lost. I was also not lazy. I was a fast runner with all the weight and took up weight lifting in school. Was the fastest fatty in school. I kept up with the runners and weight 2x as much as they did, sure I couldnt run 2miles but in a sprint I was on their tails or ahead of them and pissed them off to no end that a fat ass kept up, or was faster then them. When we had to do the high jump I jumped higher then 3/4th of the class and that pissed off alot of my fellow students all ready to make fun of fatty on the first jump but no, he was bolting his 350lb fat ass over the bar left and right as they kept rising it and skinny kids were not making the jumps.

Now Im disabled, got diabetes type 2, just got blood work done on me and doc was all set to tell me bad news and yesterday got good news that I am to cut back on my diabetic meds, I have NO high cholesterol, or any other stuff wrong with me that showed up in my blood work. For a fatty and aside of the diabetes, migraines, and a messed up back for life, Im is perfect health otherwise.

Keep eating the way I am and I may not have to be on my diabetic pills anymore.

Food that is readily available is high is sugar and fat. There is no longer a need to prepare your own food.

A doctor on the radio was quoting a recent study the other day.

The study showed men are attracted to women with curves, not skinny women.

although the title was not the most thought out one I could/should have put up there, I honestly meant for this to be a serious thread.

I am not a mean spirited person.

*Sigh*

Like all human issues, it's a combination of nature vs nurture. Personally, I don't think being obese is that bad as long as your in shape. I know plenty of obese people who are genetically obese, but they have lower blood pressure than me (I'm 170 and thin). Being obese by simply overeating/eating the wrong foods/not exercising when you could be doing any of the above is inexcuseable IMO.

There's also ignorance. Despite media attention, there are still dumba$$es out there (ie: Those people who sued McDonalds awhile back). Lol I remeber seeing one guy on the news saying (in reference to McDonalds) "...I didn't know about the fat, I didn't know about the grease, I didn't know about the salt..." WTF do you not have taste buds?

In the past, good taste often meant it was good food - if it tasted good, it was probably good for you, like fruits and meats. With meat, you got protein and calories, while fruits provided water, sugars, vitamins, fiber, with fewer calories than meat on a per-weight basis.
Now we've learned how to separate the flavor from the nutrition, and taste sells more product than nutrition.

Technology just has to continue to progress to the point that we can have the good taste, and still have all the vitamins. I mean come on, we've got fully fortified foods for pets! My sister is caring for some gerbils, and I checked out the ingredient list. It has maybe 4 different plant products in it, and the rest of the huge list is comprised of various vitamins and minerals. Where is that for humans? Why not have an Oreo that is highly nutritious, so that eating a third of a package is actually a good thing, or Coca Cola that also provides 50% of your daily value of many vitamins?
