I'm not taking sides either way here, but I've noticed recently a major increase in the number posting conservative (and very conservative) viewpoints, and I mean new faces here, and I'm wondering why? I'm guessing the Cads and Riprorins have been doing some recruiting lately to try and take back their forum ;) Any other ideas, or is this not a trend at all?

Just an observation seeing a lot of new faces recently. I'm not going to throw out any names without doing extensive searches to make sure they are in fact new to this particular forum. Either you also see this trend, or you dont.

I was curious if you were referring to me, as I haven't spent nearly as much time here as I used to and thus I may appear new to some.

But I just have a big ego.

I dont think it would be unusual for someone with 112 posts to see alot of new faces.

i really dont think so, the forum is still highly dominated by liberals. i think its about a 70/30 split.

There are liberals,
Those of a more centrist philosophy
Those of a conservative philosophy
Those of a libertarian bent.
Then folks hard to classify. Some pretend to be conservatives, and think they are, but they are really selfish warmongering bastages :D

To drop names, Orsorum is a conservative, Glenn1 a libertarian, Red Dawn centrist, and I am not sure who is a liberal (offically). Why? Because so many dislike Bush that they are posting threads and responses against him and his dogma. I fall into that category. Some percieve me as liberal because I am against Bush. That's fine by me. Some see me as conservative, because I support the military and freedom of religion and gun ownership.
There are those who I dislike who fall into the last category, but propriety forbids me naming them :D

Bottom line, people are more complex than "liberal" and "conservative". Tags sell people short.

As I indicated in another posting, I think the numbers are more like 85/15.

You post like a typical liberal. Blame the Conservative person for anything you can, but fail to look at the issues in your own back yard.

Recent influx of conservatives here?
At last.

After enduring months and months of ranting by hysterical postmodernists singing "Kum Ba Ya" in the face of self-detonating, suicidal radical extremists, we're finally treated to real, alternative opinion.

Analysis from the "See BS" or "Err Amerika" moonbats only goes so far.

I probably would have agreed with Riprorin's comment.

Of course the Mod had to delete the comment instead of sending him a PM as the Mod suggested.

As for the "conservatives" showing up, all it would take is one or two links to a thread here or there and it would attract more posters. It has been so unfriendly and the Moderating so one-sided that I'm amazed that there are any conservatives left here at all.

And this is coming from someone who has been here for a long time and usually is very supportive of the Mods. They have done a terrible job here over the last 6 months. Threads are locked and warnings given while the same behaviour by someone with the opposite view is allowed to continue again and again.

Don't assume all of the Bush haters on this forum are liberals. A lot of traditional conservatives are disgusted with this administration, too. They can spot stupidity, greed and arrogance just as well as anyone else.

I don't think anyone is assuming anything. I've seen enough support for very "liberal" positions here to be able to draw some accurate conclusions about the inclinations of the posters here. Even if you throw out the extremes on both ends, this board leans heavily to the left of center. But that's just an observation, not a critique.

right now its left of center, at other times its right of center
The reason for it is basicly the ammunition posters have at hand, during the last years there have been alot more ammunition for the left than for the right, during Clinton's presidency it was more centered and during the "bj" scandals and the scandals right after Clinton left the white house it was right of center.

But even ignoring the Presidential campaign, there is a ton of support for things such as legalized/recognized gay marriage, tax-the-bejezus-outta-the-rich, get rid of all guns, get rid of the death penalty, right-to-choose, etc. These ideas are not typically tied to a particular candidate or current "hot topic," but are rather long-standing, fundamental issues where the left and right differ. Based on these issues, one can see on which side the majority here lies.

Granted, I haven't been involved in P&N for the years I've been on AT (or in any of the political threads when they were in OT), so I can't make judgements about what used to be - but the several months that I *have* been here definitely illustrate left-leaning tendencies by the majority of posters here.

Excuse me. What Conservatives???

True Conservatives are long gone, been replaced by Neocons. If you're trying to say that Neocons are trying to make some sort of a re-constituted version of what was Conservatives in a desperation effort as they realize they are going to lose power with the election loss of their Fearless Liar, you might have a point.

Oh and if you're noticing more Neocon/Re-consituted Jr's posting, it is obviously previously banned members for posting vial, hypocritcal and personal attacks against the Non-Brainwashed.

I agree.
