I've noticed something about the optical dell mice. It isn't the mice, it is the dell mousepad. That silver logo really screws them up sometimes.

ah mx518 has same dpi and is backed by a well known name logitech and the mx518 has browser back and forth buttons and app switcher!

Razer has been making high performance gaming mice for a long time, they started the whole THIS MOUSE IS BETTER CAUSE IT HAS MORE DPI ordeal. i would trust them more than logitech even despite their latest faults with the copperhead, which i own. At the moment i also have one of the new M$ Laser Mouse 6000s hooked up as well.

I've been using my MX700 for over 2 years

Recently got back into FPS'ing a little bit - truthfully, how much better would it be to go to a wired laser mouse? I really would like to hear from a pretty hardcore FPS'er who has ACTUALLY USED the MX700 - how much am I really missing out on? Would love to pull the trigger on a G5..... $55 for more accurate headshots is a tough call tho

For any type of gaming you don't want a wireless mouse because you want to decrease the delay time as much as possible and info going form mouse to PC takes time. Another problem with wireless mice and gaming is that most mice after a certain period of time go into a power save mode so if you are hiding in a game for a long time your mouse may go into power saying mode and it will take another amount of time to bring it out of this "mode" so your inital movement isn't recognized

Yes, I agree with you in theory - but, for example I can sense no difference between my wired optical laptop mouse and my MX700. That's why I wanted to hear from someone who's used it, different strokes I guess.

Believe me, I want to get a G5 - but when my girlfriend sees I spent 60 bucks on a mouse she'll throw something. Neh. Gadget factor.

I received a Diamondback Plasma today and I despise the 'feel' of it in my hand. The sharp edges and the grip pad locations are a big disappointment. A smoother edge design and better thumb location would do this mouse some good.

I have been using a MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 for about 4 years now and was afraid to change mice since I knew it would affect my gaming for a while until I got used to it. I tried the Razer for about an hour and got fed up with it. I was always focusing on how to position my hand comfortably while gaming and that is unacceptable. I decided to grab the MX510 from work, and after a few games I settled in and now I am not letting go of this little gem. The design is extremely comfortable and feels similar to my IE 3.0. In addition 800dpi is plenty. Look out n7!
