I've been in Huey's, Kiowa's and Blackhawk's many times and never felt unsafe at any time. It's a rush you'll never forget, I loved every second of it. I'd put my life in the hands of a highly trained Army aviator before I'd get in a car with some of the idiots in their riceboy cars on this board.

In a dessert during a sandstorm, it can be quite dangerous being inside a chopper.

You don't say? I was in Kuwait in 1990-1991 and back again in 1998. Thanks for stating the obvious. Desserts are pretty dangerous, especially those "Death by Chocolate" ones at Bennigans. I'd hate to see what all that chocolate would do to the inside of a chopper.

ROFLMAO!!!

I never thought of desserts as being sandy. DESERTS maybe, but not desserts, they usually just have a lot of sugar in them...

how many dead civilians so far? I'm willing to bet we kill less than Saddam did during his one strike on the Kurds in 1991.

Maybe you should ask Saddam to stop herding woman and children around targets as well as telling his troops to put their uniforms back on, alot have switched to civilian clothing.

I hope you all reallize that your president is the biggest Troll of all. When he was talking about the legalities of treating the POWs and the Geneva Convention Articles, he totally 'forgot' to mention his own criminal conduct as described by the Geneva Convention in attempting to assassinate the head of government of another country. I wonder if some law suites will follow?

You've been asked to post in the appropriate forum and you continue ignore the request. It's obvious that you are only posting to start a flame war. Take a week off to think about it.

Sadam is the Commander of the Iraqi Military and is therefore a military target, which makes it perfectly legal. This has been discussed many, many times on the news already.....

Strategic question..

I am wondering if we(the coalition) should consider bypassing Baghdad and taking Tikrit(sp) first ? I think it's unfortunate that we don't have the 4th in the Northern areas and I'm thinking that an assault on Baghdad without securing the areas north first will cause the more experienced Iraqi units to leave Baghdad for the North, prolonging the end of the war.

I'm sure you remember hearing about the Kurds that were gassed, and the ones slaughtered at the end of the Gulf War? They control the north and would love to see Saddam and his men come over to play.

Excuse me, but the arguments made by some others in this thread probably belong in the antiwar thread instead. Your mindless trollings definitely belong there (well, I could say that your stuff belongs in /dev/null, but then you do have a right to voice your opinion, even though it is not supported by any hard evidence, and is most definitely wrong).

Of course, you realize (as someone has stated before), we're not actually trying to kill Saddam. We're just going to get his goat for war crimes that said goat has committed. That doesn't change the fact that Saddam always keeps his goat nearby, and if we accidentally get Saddam at the same time, oh well... ;)

Now, seriously, Saddam is in violation of several UN resolutions (I'm in a hurry now, but will provide links later if needed), at least one of which authorizes the use of force against him if he does not comply (which he has not). Needless to say, someone like you who thinks that everyone in the US government and news media is bound by oath never to tell the truth is probably not going to believe anything said by them (of course, you do give Saddam the benefit of a doubt, and assume that all that he says is true).

I know about the Kurds, however if we attack Baghdad and the Iraqi forces who are defending Baghdad retreat northward I doubt if the Kurds can handle them all. Additionally there are the oil fields in the north to consider.

I'm just thinking about how we are going to contain the troops defending Baghdad, rather than allowing them to escape to the North and fighting them again.

still sticking with my hunch Saddam is dead or very injured, those tapes have nothing specific in them, find it hard to believe he wouldnt speak about anything in PARTICULAR to the war in his tapes, just a bunch of rhetoric.

Did those guys sitting around the table look like they were getting their dicks kicked in the dirt anyway? They all looked like they just got back from the golf course, or rape room in their case...

Don't worry, we do have the ability to airlift forces and/or equipment where needed.

If it was that easy for us to get 10000-20000 troops in the north I'm sure we already would have done so. That was the original plan as I understand it.

What I am getting at is that we appear to still be using the original strategy of attacking Baghdad from the south, which might not work as well as it would have if we had the 4th in the north to prevent the Baghdad defenders from retreating that way.

If the Baghdad defenders have some place else to go, I don't think they are going to fight to the last in Baghdad. From their point of view it makes more sense to fall back to Tikrit and even the Kurdish areas, which I think could end up being a really big mess to deal with.

We have some there right now, more on the way as well. I expect them to shift some of the southern line up and around much of the city. Iraq is a centralized country, almost all control is set up to come from Baghdad, I don't see them leaving. I wish the civilians would get the hell out of the waythtough. Saddam might be using them as shields, but they should have left last week.....

I doubt it would be a problem to airlift troops to the north. Tanks, artilary, armored vehicles, etc., are a different story.

I'm thinking that Baghdad is where Saddam want to have the "last stand" mainly because the city is sooooo large that combing it for iraqi soldiers by american soldiers would be a daunting task - and more than likely very very bloody :(

I can't believe all the hand wringing going on about a Helicopter getting shot down or us incurring causulties. THis is war and we are going to lose some troops and equipment. I can assure you that for every one american killed of wounded there are a 100 Iraqi Wags meeting Allah in person and for every Apache shot down 10 or 20 Iraqi Tanks are getting blown to smithereens.
