**Official** Video Card Drivers Rev2

I'm fairly neurotic about cleaning old drivers before installing new ones. I never have to deal with the uncertainty of improperly installed drivers or driver conflicts if I have problems in a game. In my case, either the game needs patching or the drivers do. 🙂

there probably is some image quality sacrificed, though so far I'm a happy camper with the NGOs. I tried the DNAs with the "fast" install option but FarCry and HL2 still looked surprisingly good. But maybe I just have low expectations. 🙂

Ill say again what i said on guru3d. the 71.89 are slow but good looking drivers the 76.50 are fast but lower IQ you cant really compare thos two drivers when doing a comparison use the same version driver. There is no way you can compare driver tweaks while using different version drivers.... Also take into account what the modder is doing with the driver. Lower IQ to increase perf? in the XG drivers we increase IQ while maintaining speed. Benchmarks dont do the drivers justice. Play a game and see what you think. Also take note the XG drivers HD meaning High Detail.

ok, and I'll say what I said on guru3d: I tested the most popular drivers and the benchmarks are just that - benchmarks, nothing else intended. Some people find these helpful, others don't. But if you want to do your own across-the-board comparison, be my guest.

Only if you tell it to. Have you ever used Driver Cleaner? You can pick and choose which drivers you want to clean up.

Well yeah, I've been using them for a while, but I heard rumours that if you choose to remove the forceware drivers from DC it might accidently remove some nForce files too, that was my concern. But it seems like this issue was resolved in a revision a long time ago. I don't usually use DC, I don't think it's really necessary. I only use it if I get major problems with a new set of drivers.

I lost about 400 on 3dm03 going to these, but I'm not sure what I was running before, and besides it was right after a reformat. I'm running a 9800 pro. Any good reason to stick with 4.12? Or earlier 5-series? 😀

Do not worry about 3dMark score. What does that get you? Satisfaction knowing that you have a good score? Worry about the games you play as well as the IQ in those games.

Generally speaking the latest Catalyst drivers are the best of the bunch (with a few exceptions).

I would get the latest Catalysts.

Sorry guys i have been kind of slacking on keeping every single driver in here. I just got through VA's standardized tests, AP exams, and am now about to plunge into exams so ill do my best to keep this thread updated everytime a new driver is released.

Also, im working on getting webspace for these drivers. I am also working with a couple people to start reviewing driver releases. Ill give more info as we work it out.

I would like to take a poll here (not add a poll however 😉 ). PM me (simple yes or no would be great) if i should begin including 98/ME drivers, XP-64 drivers, as well as some of the newer modded drivers.

Thanks guys,

-Kevin

EDIT: 5.5's work fine with GTR. And, I am aware of what you say about 3dm03... 🙂

Stupid question, but I really couldn't find a definite answer, will these drivers work with a 6800 go (Dell Inspiron 9300)?

Any news on the Cat 5.6's and the miracle performance increases across the board 😉

I thought I heard around June 8th or 10th.. But who knows..
