Quick question: I'm runing an eVGA FX5500.. Is the XG 77.62 HDType3 ok for my card? Is there a better set of recent drivers?

prolly been asked before, but I was curious about some definitions. what does type 1, type 2, and type 3 mean in terms of the drivers. do they just define iterations, or does each type have specific features.

They are basically different versions of the same driver Type 3 being the newest with the best overall performance and Quality. As we made new drivers with new tweaks people asked us to use the same tweaks on lets say a slightly older driver hence the different Types.

Thanks,

Updated with new Nvidia drivers. Im going to make a poll at the top and see how many people would like me to add Vista, and x64 drivers.

Ive just got a new 7800GTX and i know this has been asked countless times.

Should i use the 77.76 drivers or which would you recommend?

Or should i use the XG drivers and use the 80 series drivers?

Well i would HIGHLY recommend the Xtreme G Drivers 77.76 right now.

If for some reason you dont want the modded drivers, i would still say the 77.76, many bug fixes and comparable speed with the rest of the drivers. Additionally since you have the 7800GTX, i think the lowest you can go is 77.76 😛

Oh right lol, looks like its the XG 77.76 drivers.

Cheers for your help Gamingphreek!

im running the new Official WHQL 77.77 and so far so good 🙂 the one kool thing about this set of drivers is the SLI8x and the SLI16x settings

i have my settings rite now at SLI16x and AAF 16x and Quality set too High Quality and useing 1024x768 rez

games now look so killer no jaggys at all allmost 😉 just a real sharp and clean render 😉

u can read about SLI8x and SLI16x here SLI Antialiasing: Redefining Image Quality and learn how to turn it on here if u dont have Coolbits installed How to enable SLI Antialiasing using Coolbits:

The next driver release will make SLI Antialiasing a permanent feature in the NVIDIA Control Panel. 🙂

Cypher which games are you running those in... it would seem that you would need one hell of a system to run those in HL2 or DIII or something.

im running HL2,D3,WoW and Far Cry all in the setting i listed

i need to try and do some 3DMark05 or Aquamark testing to see what i get with those setting but so far game play is smooth and Gfx are crisp and clean

Yikes... we lost sticky.

Ill ask for a resticky if you guys want.

However, until i get all my AP assignments done i wont be able to add the -x64 categories, and the Windows Vista categories. Additionally, i wont be able to start writing reviews until that is over. So, just to let you know, i will still update with latest betas and what not, but i will not be able to add the big changes and things that i would like just yet... sorry, but i neglected 99% of my AP assignments 🙁

Anyone know if the omega 5.7 catalyst drivers would provide any performance improvement on a ati x300 or radeon 9200 aiw graphics card? Thanks for any replies.

They provide a couple frames difference from my experience. I would recommend using them only if you know what you are doing.

Aside from that there is nothing outstanding. The only real time to use it is if you are softmodding one card to another (9500 [L-Shaped Memory] -> 9700).
