Awesome! You don't happen to know if any of the bios' for the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum will work off the bat with it? Or does anyone else know?

Are the retail 3200s really delayed until the 20th? Monarch is the only one I've seen posting a ship date for these. It would damn near kill me to wait another month!

I guess what doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

I'm hoping to see these sooner than that, as soon as I get a firm date on these I will post on AT.

Direct from MSI Tech Support:

Currently these cpus are being tested by Taiwan office for compatibility with the 7025, once they are done testing I will let you know their results.

So as soon as I hear something I'll post up!

Hi MonarchJoe,

MonarchComputers says they'll flash the BIOS for the new Venice cores if I get the mobo + CPU combo from you. If I chose to do it myself, I'm guessing I would need a bootable setup to do so, ie - I would need a non venice core chip setup to run the PC?

Thanx, I should be placing an order very soon!

Might as well get the motherboard/cpu combo from monarch like I did, they flash to thenewest official bios plus you get a free copy of hl2 and farcry.

True, and I'm thinking I will, but it kinda takes the fun out of building my own machine. :-( Might as well get the memory while I'm there. They're $5 more than zipzoomfly, but it's just 5 bucks.

I know this is a VENICE thread, but has anyone seen *real* in-stock dates for the 3700+ San Diegos (1mb cache)? Mr. Joe?

Pile o' parts, no CPU.

That is likely because of the added L2 cache versus the venice's 512kb........

It honestly depends on the board. Some will allow you to boot with a new cpu, some need an old cpu.

Yes, I had this same dilemma, and in the end I just emailed the manufacturer (DFI). They said that it works fine with the bios the board ships with. Just email the manufacterer and ask them about compatability, they are normally very helpful.

newegg's REV E info is very incorrect, they say 1.5vcore, no SSE3, and a few assorted things...they copied the 3500+ stats off the winnie.
wonder why newegg doesn't have 3000+'s yet...

Thanx for the advice. I did that, and MSI got back to me almost immediately. This is for the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI board. Here's their response...

"Yes, the current bios for the K8N Neo4 series can boot with the Venice Core processor but it require a bios update which we are still working on it."

I'm trying to get another response from them about what "requires a bios update" means. If it boots, then the technically it's optional.

Probably for it to recognize what core it is and maybe to enable correct voltage and features. (Don't know if SSE3 would require bios to support).
