Out of all their signings, the 18-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo was the most effective player. I believe that they signed Jaap Stam to solve their defense problem (Rio will be out for the first couple of months, I think) and Alan Smith to add to their list of strikers, although I am not sure how well he'll do at United.

I wouldn't say Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba were useless, but it was sometimes hard to fit them into a team with so many midfielders. But now with Keane getting older and Butt probably leaving, I think they will get their chance this season. Not sure if you remember, but its not 1999 anymore, they don't have Stam. ;) United signed Gabriel Heinze from PSG to help their defense. Alan Smith could do well, could do badly, too tough to say. Ronaldo is awesome, but then let's not forget another signing named Tim Howard. :)

My money is still on Man United this year. Anytime they don't win the title, they come back with a vengeance.

I think I have to agree with those who say the Czechs will win. They are very tight and have good stars as well. They were also the only team to win all three of their group stage games.

Oops. My bad. Too many transfers so I got confused. :) And I forgot about Tim Howard, although I was equally impressed with Roy Carroll.

I'd like to say that Arsenal will win the title again but hopefully they learned enough from their past slip-ups and for once win the title back-to-back.

Chelsea will be an even stronger contender now so I expect a very tight title race running until the very last week of the season. :) Chelsea and Manchester United got their revenge knocking out Arsenal but the undefeated champs finished the season 15 and 30 points ahead of them. The last few weeks of the Premiership weren't all that exciting except the little scares Arsenal faced before they finished their season without a loss. :)

Go portugal beat England. The underdogs should crack the britishers.

Underdogs? Portugal are the hosts!

Going into the game England are the favourites. Being a host doesn't mean that they are the fav.

I think they are more or less equals. Portugal advanced beating Spain and being the hosting country is great advantage.

However, depending on how the tickets were allocated, England could feel almost home with all the crazy England fans in Lisbon right now.

they have a long history of choking in big games...

and England don't? ;)
*doesn't

Go Republic of Ireland!

err. I mean, go Czechs!

It is common in football to treat country as a plural.

I'm neutral to this one. I like some individual players but don't feel attached to either country.

Maybe slightly toward England because I follow the English league a lot.

Enjoy the game!
