I'm sorry, but Italy's defence DOES NOT 'suck'. It's one of the best in the world. Buffon is arguably one of the best keepers in the game. Nesta and Cannavaro are arguably the two best centre backs in the game. Iuliano etc are all experienced players. And Italy is traditionally an exceptionally good defensive team and with strikers like Del Piero could easily win the tournament.

I'm sorry if my argument perhaps came out too strong.

I meant it relatively speaking to the other seasons, Italy defense does not match their reputation as one of the best in the world. And based on the performance of the recent friendlies, and the performance of the Italian defenders in Serie A this year, I have doubts in considering Italy as one of the favourites to win the tournament.

But then I am biased against Italian football because as much as I try to read and watch for their tactics, they are often just too damn boring. ;)

I have a feeling that this match won't be all that great.

WTF. Now we don't even get video feed.

This is such a bad tempered game and both teams are showing no ambition, if either of them want to get out of this group (or have a chance) then they have to win this game

10 mins to kick-off! :D

I'm gonna take a quick shower and have a cup of coffee. Gotta keep focused on the game for the next 2 hours. :D

England BETTER play Lampard and Gerrard in the middle. I'd be very surprised if Erikkson insists on the diamond formation against France.

Awesome header from Frank Lampard. :D

This goal should open up the game too. France seems to be a bit out of ideas at the moment, perhaps from too much possession and attacking attempts.

You're obviously not watching the same game it's been very open attacks from both sides, however neither goalkeeper really had to make a save before we scored :)

Mnemeth, I didn't quite understand the England midfield. Scholes seems to enjoy occupying the centre midfield with Lampard. Looked to me like Gerrard is the preferred left midfielder.

But whatever it was, it worked. They are 1-0 up.

Yeah, too bad. You are missing a good one.

Try the Match Centre here - http://www.euro2004.com/index.html and listen to BBC Radio in the link I posted above. You should get some hang of the game then.

Agreed both Lampard and Scholes are doing what we all thought they were no good at ie holding...

Gerard isn't quite up to his usual standard I think we shall see..

ITV have just shown a shot of Beckham after the goal he thought Lampard had missed and had started swearing and turned away, then when he saw the fans jumping around and cheering he realised we'd scored and started celebrating :)
