Jen didn't put out a good dish, but I'm surprised the judges were not more critical of Jamie's decision to get stitches and essentially eliminate her role in the execution of a dish.

there have been many instances on Top Chef where contestants just tough it out when they incur some type of injury, and it seems Jamie got a free pass for not cooking in an elimination round of Top Chef.

Interesting point. What is really suprising though, is that the person she was cooking with said her being there wouldn't have made the dish any better or worse... so Jamie's presence on the team seems sorta moot.

I'm sure there was lots of discussion behind the scenes about the merits of Jamie staying vs leaving. Perhaps it just had to be edited for the sake of television time.

Total short circuit on Jen. I mean seriously, she should be embarrassed. You can stand behind your dish without being a pissy baby about it and making yourself look like an idiot.

I seriously don't think it played into her being kicked off, though I think some of her antics will play into how others in the field view her.

Jamie was ridiculous (and I love Jamie too). 2 stitches? Come on. pathetic.

2 for 2 GREAT episodes.

Going to read the blogs now for insight into the whole trainwreck.

From Tom's Blog:

(Jamie, by the way, had never had stitches before and was a bit frightened when she heard she needed them, which is why she left to go get them right away.)

Tiffani may have thought at the moment that she heard the challenge that “Carnivore” meant “Omnivore,” but as soon as I finish explaining each Elimination Challenge to the contestants on camera, a producer of the show comes and explains it in far greater — and more boring — detail.

What I remember from Jen the first time around is that she started off great and then each succeeding week got weaker in cooking and more obnoxious in attitude. It was like the pressure was getting to her and causing her to make mistakes and with each screw-up she ratcheted up the attitude. The worse she cooked the more defiant she got about it and the more she wanted to fight the criticism. It looks like that pattern continued to build and carried over into this season. There's no excuse for that sort of meltdown.

You're right. I forgot about that "buildup" that she had. She apparently is not very good with pressure.

I still have to watch Rippert's video blog on it. She's head chef at his Philly restaurant. Tom's and Bourdain's take on the episode were great.

It seems there was some "scuffle" in the press though when Elia got kicked off. Seems she bad mouthed Tom C. in the press. I can't find anything though...

But dumber. Jen was just standing up for her food as hard as she could. Those queens in Just Desserts were just resorting to unnecessary drama.

I don't think that was drama, that dude Seth in just Desserts was borderline insane. Towards the end there I don't think he was in control of his actions.

Oh yeah I totally agree. I mean it was totally unnecessary and just "crazy". Seth was loony. And the whole team diva thing was just crazy too.

Oh yeah, Team Diva, Yigit and that other ultra-gay one, what was his name, Zac? They were drama queens of the highest order and everything with those two was a desperate plea for attention to show how faahhhh-aaaahhh-buuuuuuu-LOUSSSS!! they were. But Seth was a real psycho, when he didn't get his way in that ruling and started twitching and started talking like he had Tourette's it definitely wasn't just flaming away with the rest. He seemed like he was 10 seconds away from grabbing a butchers knife and turning the place into a crime scene.

so annoyed that Jamie got saved from being up for elimination due to the structure used to determine elimination candidates and the team strategy

quite possibly the best season of TC ever

dale/richard/fabio to the finals.

Fabio = Grand Master FOH

best ever? really?

By far. This season has been incredibly good.
So glad to see Marcel get the boot. Him and his foams. And his insanity. I just can not believe people haven't punched him out. (I realize he may be somewhat playing the part or that editing makes it worse than it is... but man... he drives me nuts.)

What SUCKS about this season is the extended breaks in new episodes. not another new one until next week. Lame.

The most annoying part about this season is that they wont let them fucking compete on their own heh... It gets really tiring watching them limp along some worthless fucking waste of time over and over and over while good chefs go home in the meantime. That seems to be the way they engineer it though, so whatever works I guess.

Second most annoying thing is them not airing new episodes every week consistently.

Fabio and Richard are funny to watch. Richard has his own show on the science channel now I think? Interesting guy. Fucked up hair.

i have to say, Padma looked SSMOOKKIINNGG in that yellow dress and when in the bikini a few eps back.

Agreed on the yellow dress. Probably the best all season.

I'm still bummed Dale was booted.. Would have loved to see a Richard/Dale finale.

I'm glad
Richard
won. If he didn't I think he would have killed himself.
Looking forward to the reunion show.
