Verizon Wireless is releasing an update for the HTC Thunderbolt smartphone on May 3. For those of you unfamiliar, the HTC Thunderbolt is an Android-powered smartphone running on Verizon's 4G LTE network. In spite of the ThunderBolt's battery issues, there is no mention of any battery-related fixes in the update. The update does include enhanced data connectivity for 3G, properly stored SMS and MMS messages, and improved timing for device activation. The update will also correctly display "Backup Assistant" in the app menu, data-centric applications such as Facebook, KAYAK and Yahoo! Mail will have undergone stability improvements, and finding the correct location within the weather app is also part of the update. Chances are there are plenty of tweaks and fixes to this update and when we know for sure we'll keep you in the loop. The update is a manual download, which can be found on the Verizon website.
