I can't find anyone anywhere who thinks that Bolt will lose the 200m. Therefore, I'm going to be the one and only contrarian and predict that he'll lose. If he does lose, I'll look like a genius; if he wins, I'll pretend I never made this post. 😱

I would have watched some of the taped events from tonight live if they had streamed them live over the intarwebs... but of course they didn't. 🙁

haha, i was thinking the same thing. i kept thinking, it must be really bright in there since her pupils are very small.

Phelps may be the most medalled, but I'd say Usain Bolt is the best athlete by far in these olympics.
He strolled into the 200m finals, easing up at 150m while others still struggled just to qualify.
He should enter the long jump- I see an easy 30ft is within reach, maybe even 10 meters. Guy is insane.

In order for Usain to equal what Phelps did in the pool, he'd have to at least win golds in the 400m and 800m as well, and probably do some hurdles for good measure...

Phelps swam so many different distances as well as so many different strokes, what you're saying is pretty much a joke. The closest track star to come close to doing what Phelps did was Carl Lewis, and that's also because he also threw in the long jump...even though Bolt really looks like he'll win the 200m, he hasn't won it yet...so you're also getting ahead of yourself. And you also appear to be just talking out of your ass when you mention the long jump...oh let's just throw him in any of the events that require some running! Put him on a bball team too! Let's ignore the fact that we can't just enter any event we want, let alone expect to compete in said event when we've never practiced or competed for it before!

Usain is the best short distance sprinter - that's for sure, but to call him the best athlete is nonsense.

Aussie Basketball is doing pretty well against Team USA
it's not a blowout like the others.

GO USA!

in other news, chinese total medal count is now equal to that of the americans

Wow the medal count is now tied along with their insanely high gold/silver/bronze ratio. Guess we're back to the days of '88 when the USSR/East Germany used to kick out butts.

yeah. bosh got a few easy ones.
but what's with TEAM USA's FT? Lebron and Kobe are both bad at the line

Why the hell is that aussie trashing Wade when they're down by 30?

smaller ball, they're not use to it

i like how USA pulls out the sharpshooter Redd when they're up by 30
(i know he's like the 11th man on the team or something but still funny how all these all-stars are on the bench)

and you gotta give it up to the aussies for sportsmanship. this game would've been in garbage time in NBA. the aussies are playing like they're down by 5

Does anyone remember just the other night when we took silver (we only lost to the "WORLD CHAMPION" and the chicks coach was a complete asshole on national television?

In case you didn't:

Now, as being a former hockey coach, think this guy is a complete and utter asshole. I for one am going to take the time to write this prick an email - coach@jenniferstuczynski.com - and you should too.

Oh come on, you're trying to flood this guy's e-mail box over this? It's between him and her, stay out of it.

Yea...I was pretty worried as well about the Aussies when it was 25-24 after the first; they were actually competitive for the first half, vs Germany on Monday. Final score 116-85...so typical 30 point blowout.

What the real difference is that the US team has incredible depth that the other teams don't have. When Jason Kidd got three fouls in 2 minutes at the start of one game, it wasn't a problem since Dwayne Wade came in and lit up the score board. Additionally they really are playing as a team, not selfish NBA stars like they did in 2004.

look at the team of 2004

Marbury
Iverson
Coach Larry Brown

Bolt just got a world record of 19.30 in the 200m against a head wind.:Q

First athlete to beat world records in both the 100m & 200m in the same olympics.

It's his 22nd birthday today. Crowd is singing Happy Birthday.

Yes...but they didn't really play as a team in 2004 (my last sentence) and they are now. It takes playing together for awhile to get the awesome alley oops, and the chemistry that they have. You can't pull together a bunch of people with huge egos a month before the games and expect them to be good. Plus I think its a benefit of having one of the best college coaches in the country as the head coach. Coach K is any teams worst nightmare, and he hates to lose...plus he doesn't really care about their star power as previous coaches have done.

Bolt is a showman! but he's so good that he's not coming off as cocky or arrogant.
Great athlete this guy.

Head wind was 0.9m against his motion, at near sea level too!

CBC commentator said he might be able to run 18.5 with optimal conditions.
