Just checking in to say that this is the absolute worst coverage of the Olympics I have ever seen in my 33 years. You would think there were only 3 events at the Olympics.

I'll have to agree, NBC's primetime coverage of this is crap. Very biased to Phelps, that Tyson Gay guy, or the US woman's gymnastic team. But hey that's the US for ya. And, I'm tired of seeing all these biographies and interviews. I am, however, enjoying the olympic coverage on Directv's other channels.. (even though I know they're affiliates of NBC)

NBC's primetime, I can't stand it. Ads after ads.

Wow I couldn't disagree more. This was absolutely fabulous coverage with mostly very good commentators. I do have cable so I can watch NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA channels, but still I feel NBC has done an excellent job. And the Silverlight player on the NBC website is really neat with good quality video and picture-in-picture (watched Women's BBall with Men's Tennis in the PiP).

WIN for USA Men's BBall!!!! 😀

Wait, are you saying you *don't* eat Mcdonald's to get 6-pack abs like the people in their Olympic commercials?

Ugh, seriously NBC! There wasn't ANY other event besides marathon going on right now? Even the road race event was more interesting to watch (not by much, but still).

Seriously, I turned in then turn it off immediately. NBC doesn't have any other Olympic coverage on MSNBC, USA etc ... during prime time, they can do better than this marathon.

lets see, first you have a US network covering a US olympic athlete. and you are arguing that they shouldn't?

Second, he is going for what no athlete in 112 years has ever done, yet the network is biased towards him? wow

Alright, I'm a n00b to HDTV, so sorry if this is a dumb question.

I am watching the olympics in HD and I notice that whenever the view is showing medium to fast motions (so pretty much every event in the olympics), the image becomes horribly pixelated. I don't notice this issue when the camera is making slow pans of stationary or slow-moving people/objects (which would include far-away shots of the races).

Does my TV and/or signal suck or is this normal for HD? I have a Sharp Aquos, which was supposed to be one of the better models of HDTV.

Heh, I flipped over to COPS instead. At least it's satisfying, albeit in a guilty, shameful way...

Don't want to knock the marathon runners - that's a tough event. But it's just sooo not conducive to being a televised event.

It's all about the signal.

I've got DirecTV and pixelation is hardly noticeable on some channels but annoying as hell on others.

I compare the OTA signal and use whichever is better.

german olympians in playboy🙂

pics are pretty decent.

a nice change from the chinese gymnastic team.. however good those girls are at gymnastics i'd imagine they'd put anyone off eating if they got on a wheaties box.

Whhhhyyyy must we watch the whole marathon? I know its hard, but as others have said, there has to be something a bit more interesting going on that they could broadcast for prime time

This seems a little ridiculous. Men's 100M, second round, Martinez false started, but then if anybody else had false started, they'd be disqualified?

Smelling salts stashed in the bra? Well I guess they had to try to find some minor drama in a event so obviously not meant to be a spectator sport.

Yeah, I don't really understand it. I figure someone with no shot at a top three finish is going to try to do the first false start intentionally to mess around with people's heads.

So they have some good coverage now showing definitive video/photo evidence that Phelps is the clear winner for anyone in doubt...(not that you can really refute the electronic touch pads...)

Lezack was absolutely awesome. Let's hope Phelps and the relay team can win one more. I don't think 8 Golds is going to be toppled anytime soon.

Don't think they'll need much hope with the team they can field...

Peirsol - the Phelps of the backstroke (even their backup, Grevers, is better than anyone else)

Phelps himself (Crocker could do just as well) for the fly

Hansen - former world record holder in the breast (while he may not be the fastest now, he
should still be an awesome asset considering he only has to be as good or better than the other good teams, which he is)

and Lezak to anchor the free of course... (although team USA has many freestylers that could anchor this team)

USA boxing, very disappointing.

they didn't get the memo that the event was changed from boxing to slapping

Damn, oh well, silver for a 41 year old is still incredibly awesome though, and she's been one of our most consistent female swimmers, so  to Torres

What is this? The swimming version of the marathon? Did NBC just take a commercial break in the middle of this event?

The 1500m. Yeah, a very unprecedented move by NBC....they just left the event again for commercials.

Heh, I'm not used to watching swim events that take so long to complete that NBC can fit in multiple commercials breaks in between.
