Looks decent except for its dumbass title. They couldn't think of anything better I guess. Jersey Mob, Jersey Empire, or Dirty Jersey would have been better.

Started off a little slow, but picked up nicely. I think this might be a very good series.

this show will get canceled before the season finishes.

Are ya serious? :p

It was an impressive premier. It can't be all that bad with Scorsese involved. Whalberg involved also (not sure how big of a part either play but the show is very Scorsesian). It's already on my tivo auto record list

it just seems like another Sopranos, but set in the 20's. especially since it's written by the same guy.

I thought the characters were fairly interesting. Nucky was a 6'0 250lb in real life so I'm having trouble seeing that intimidating factor coming from Steve Buscemi.

They said in the "pre-show" that this Nucky wasn't going to be based on the real Nucky. They really didn't want to have it completely follow history, but instead be loosely based on it.

After they spent so much time and money researching the authenticity of that era in time, they couldn't find another character to fit the frame?

Hollywood politics...Steve got on someones good side for that role!

I think they wanted to be able to take liberties with the movie in certain areas, to avoid detailing or wasting time on research that would go nowhere. Start off the show with the intentions of a loose interpretation, and you "can't" dissapoint people if you take said liberties in the future.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I always thought Steve Buscemi was a fun guy to watch on screen either way.

The Sopranos was a great show. I wouldn't mind a sopranos like show set in the 20s.

A (the?) writer was on NPR the other talking about that. He mentioned how, in the beginning of the series, Tony Soprano said he felt like he came in at the 'end of something' to his shrink. The writer basically related Boardwalk Empire as being the 'beginning' of that something.

I thought the premier was interesting and set up things pretty well. I expect this will be quite a good series.
