It'll be a tough series for the Rays. On the road - bad, in Boston - very bad, slumping - very very bad.

One good thing is maybe they can get this slump out of their way and have time to recover from it.

I'm hoping they pull at least one game out of the series.

Lets hope they can keep their heads up and walk into the stadium pumped and ready to play like they have been these past months. At this point they need to focus on their mental game and not be intimidated by the experienced players they are up against. It sucks but they really show their inexperience at times like these. Of all that show it, Bartlett shows it the most. His mistakes at short stop fielding text book ground balls while playing against big teams shows that his head just isnt there. That's just one small example, though. Jackson has been doing better, so perhaps he'll be able to keep the Sox in line tonight. Its up to our hitters at this point. We need bats.

He had a record high K's last night, I tip my hat to him. Couldn't have brought his clutch game at a better time. If it weren't for the first inning we would have seen a pretty damn exciting game. It's a shame that Jackson let that happen to him considering he came back and did so well the rest of the game.

why did you drop devil from the name?

Sorry, I didnt read this earlier. They never admitted it, but they dropped devil because its the word devil. In fact they are very slowly moving the theme from Rays as in the sting-ray to Rays as in rays of sunshine. The last remaining instance of the fish is on their sleeve, which some speculate will be gone next year even.

Losing the "devil" is stupid but understandable to pander to stupid Christians.

Changing from "stingrays" to "rays of sunshine" is just fucking gay.

Yeah, Lester was ON last night but the Ray's bats have gone cold.
When is Longoria due back in the lineup? I saw him in the dugout last night.

Longoria is expected to play as early as the NY series after the sox. He said he's definitely ready. Looks like we just lost another one of Upton's limbs. He was pulled early for hurting his quad throwing home. On top of his shoulder injury I think we'll be watching him become less and less effective.

It was kind of funny to see Zobrist out in left field and Perez actually on the field. He did make a great play in center field though. Zobrist didn't do much out there, but I can picture Maddon looking down the dugout and saying "Zobrist, you got an arm? Take left field at the top of the second."

We're all mixed up out there. We need to get back into the swing of things. 7 hits isn't bad, 0 runs is really bad.

Woot!!! They won tonight by not giving up. Even scored 2 on Papelbon. They'll hang onto 1st place regardless of tonight.

It's nice to finally see them on HD (NESN-HD).

I only go to games when I can get student tickets. All other sections SUCK.

Go Rays. I think that was the most excited game I've watched on TV this season. For them to come back like that was just amazing.

I still can't get over the fact that we have Perez and now Dan Johnson: two players from our farm that have shown they can hang with the big boys. Perez's very first major league hit ever was a bunt against the Yankees last series and now he's cracking game winning doubles into the green monster at Fenway.

And now Dan Johnson, who's first at bat with The Rays ties the game to keep us alive with a HUGE full count home run. These are players that are just now getting a chance to experience what its like to play in the bigs going up against a team with a ring on.

It doesn't get any better than that. This is why I'm still watching baseball and shrugging off the NFL.

Go Rays

Hands down the most intimidating closer in all of baseball. I don't know if the hype fuels his fear, but his record is enough for me to make doo doo when I think about stepping up to the plate against him.

Las night obviously wasn't his best show.

well...it is only gonna be down hill from last year. He has heat, but his other pitches kind of lack (his splitter or sinker, or whatever is only decent at best). So when you are up there, you just look for the heat. Until he matures and realizes he can not throw his fastball 12 straight times, it will only be downhill. I am not talking about last nights game, just the games that i saw him blow saves in.

Just another little tid-bit of information regarding our newly recalled Dan Johnson, before last night his career record in the big leagues as a pinch hitter... 0 for 15.

I don't care what they do in the post season as long as they take 3/4 from the Twins next weekend.

Twins vs Rays at Rays, Sox vs. KC at KC. Biggest series of the year.

The Tampa one is the Bucs obviously, but I like the Ronde quote:

"How can the Rays be ahead of two of the top franchises in baseball history and still get only 14,000 some nights?" asks Bucs corner Ronde Barber

Some nights? How about most nights.

Because fans aren't buying tickets. Ask Mr. Barber if the Bucs are sold out yet. Maybe he should live off a normal person's wage and see if he can go to several sporting events while affording to pay for increased gas, food bills, electric, sporting tickets, home insurance, etc.

The weekends they pack the place and it's going to take some time to get the loser Yankee and Sox fans to switch to their hometown team. This area is full of those bandwagon idiots.

Well to be fair, TB basically gives tickets away and still can't get more than 300 people.

The tickets are cheap, but the team doesn't have a long history, the stadium is probably the worst in baseball, the target market is very spread out and a large percentage of the people that go to Bucs games live a good 45 minutes from the Trop.

Couple all of that with a rough economy (with tampa being an area that has apparently been hit hard) and you've got low attendance.
