Official Supernatural discussion thread?

I love Supernatural but I think it peaked around season 4-5 and went downhill bigtime but the past season or two has gotten better

My GF has watched every single episode and therefore I've had to watch every single episode. There are some funny points (the supernatual convention) and a few of the awkward moments with the angel (when he was watching porn).

Definitely not the worst show on TV.

I think they've done a great job of maintaining momentum after all these years. With some of those year long story arcs with angels and a new apocalypse every season I would have thought that they'd eventually run out of steam. What do you do for an encore after you've defeated Lucifer and overthrown the power structure of heaven? Somehow though, they keep making it work. There hasn't been a really down season.

Still, I love the episodes that are stand-alone monster du jour stories that break away from the longer narratives. They always have a little more humor than the ones inside the arcs do.

And of course, the show always needs more Crowley.

i agree on the whole peaking around s5 thing, but it's never been poor though (well, the odd ep maybe). but this series though feels more like the old days.

yep, hope they sort out sams little visitor soon though without the obvious of him being a big bad - one rumour was that he's
lucifer, kicked out of the cage

S11 is shaping up as the best since S5.

Dam they killed off Rowena just when I start to warm up on her.
Luci is back, Casifer FTW.
Still trying to figure out Amara, that actress is either very good or very bad. Darkness looks weak, I am expecting her to be almighty.

Seriously? I stopped watching somewhere in season 9....just seemed to go in circles. The first 5 seasons were great.

Watch the last couple S10 just so you know where Amara come and Learn a few things from "Death" before you start s11.

I sleep through most of S6-10 and s11 have been awesome so far, I am actually looking forward for next esp.

I start from S1 for what it worth.

The thing that always bugs me about Supernatural is that the two brothers never learn from what dumb shit they do. Sam hides something from Dean, Dean gets mad, Dean hides something from Sam, Sam gets mad, and repeat! :| CW needs to remember that not all of their shows need to be like a soap opera. 😛

The best episodes are the "just another case" ones. A lot of the overall story arcs are pretty silly.

I've always preferred the monster-of-the-week episodes, because the overarching stories end up being a bit too corny.

The best episodes of Supernatural are definitely the ones where they go meta.

I see you've never had a brother.

Me and my bro were/are/will forever be at each other's throats (doesn't help my little bro has a really stupid "big brother" complex).

It is what it is.

The writers are acutely aware of this, they purposely write to the relationship. The major theme in the series is Sam & Dean.

I really like what they do in the series, the old cars, hot women, decent special effects, and the music is awesome.

Luci actually called out their dumb shit(what you said) last night, it was awesome.

Actually, I have a brother that's about a year older than me.

It is what it is.

Stupid, manufactured The CW drama?

The point is that characters that never grow or learn from their mistakes are just boring and poorly written. The reason why the meta episodes are the best is that they're self-aware enough to poke fun at everything that makes the show silly... such as the way the two brothers interact with each other.

EDIT:

Luci actually called out their dumb shit(what you said) last night, it was awesome.

I'm still back in season 10. I sort of stopped watching it after they introduced Rowena as I'm just not interested in that character or the arc between her and Crowley. Usually when I drop a show like that, I'll pick it up again eventually.

Speaking of that, I was talking to some chick on OkCupid about the show, and when she vaguely mentioned something that was occurring on the show now (or anywhere past where I was), I'd joke that it made me want to check it out more (it did, but not as much as I suggested). Yeah, she took that as "please spoil it for me!" :hmm: She started ranting about female characters being poorly represented, and took that as a chance to spoil what happens to Charlie. 😵
