Front page images for the two Super Bowl teams.

Philadelphia Eagles

New England Patriots

Both teams deserved it. They both had great seasons. The Pats will show up and play a great game. It all depends on the Eagles. If they're happy to be there, it's already over. If they prepare well, it'll be a great game.

2 excellent qb's
2 excellent defenses
2 money kickers

Seconded.

I think the Eagles might win this, but I'm really hoping they don't. I think Westbrook will have a big game. We shall see.

What the Patriots have done the last two weeks:

1) Held the #1 offense in the league to 3 points.

2) Scored 41 points on the #1 defense in the league.

Make your own conclusions.

I just knew the Pats were going to destroy Big Ben and the Steelers. He really looked like a rookie out there but props to him for getting this far.

Anyway, experience is what matters in the playoffs and I vote that the Pats will win it again this year.

I think the Pats will win, but I'd be surprised if it's a blowout like most seem to expect. I think it might be better than most are expecting in fact. Look at that Carolina game last year, no one gave them a chance in hell, but that game was awesome.

No kidding, not only are they going to be a dynasty, but i think given the circumstances of not only who the pats beat but HOW they beat them, i think it should give the pats consideration as the greatest team EVER 😀

Pats are taking their third in four, thus sealing the dynastic glory for the region  The only possible edge Philly has is their DBs (and now that I just said that, Rodney Harrison's ears are burning, and he will invariably go berserk yet again 😀). Westbrook is okay but overrated; Dillon (and Faulk, when necessary) are a much better bet. Our recievers are much better, though I have a feeling that T.O. will try to pull a Schilling but end up being horizontally removed from the game.

Boston Sports Radio WEEI's Dennis & Callahan put it best this morning... the Pats simply outperform themselves. They may not be chock full of pro-bowlers, with left guards playing right guard, ex-wrestlers, and everything else, but when it comes down to it, they are a cohesive unit which executes the plans of Belichick, Weis, and Crennel masterfully.

I don't think it will be that close, either.

Ummm... OK, but they did not score 41 points against the defense. They were handed 17 points by the Pittsburgh offense, 7 of which were scored by the defense. So the offense really scored 34 and I'd argue 24.
Let's not forget the Eagles held the #1 rush offense to 99 yards.

I don't think the conclusion is as clear as you make it. I believe it will be a close game. I don't know who will win but I think the eagles will cover the spread.

Exactly. Statistics don't mean anything in this game anyway. It's a superbowl.

Any given Sunday. Both teams have an equal shot to win, although Eagles will have the momentum with TO coming back to drive them.

The Eagles have but ONE chance to win this game. That is score, and score big early, much like Pittsburgh did the first time they played. If the Pats get out early, you're screwed, if its a close game, you're screwed(they just don't lose them). The Eagles technically COULD win, but I just don't see it happening. The Patriots are a machine. A frightening, ridiculous, well-coached machine.

Pats will take their place along with the '90's Cowboys as one of the great dynasties with their pwning of the Eagles this Super Bowl.

I expected carolina to make the game interesting last year. If it's true that most experts picked pats in a blowout then, I don't understand it. Anyway, I think the patriots will win, but I think it will be a very interesting game. Not necessarily close, but interesting.

When I was first getting into football, the only interesting super bowl was the packers vs broncos. But there have since been many exciting ones. Rams vs Patriots, Rams vs Titans, and Patriots vs Panthers in particular.

ROFL, we have a winner!! 😀

I don't understand how anyone can predict a blowout in this game. The Pats are playing really well right now, but not at the god-like level everyone seems to think.

1) The Colts game: This had more to do with Indy's complete lack of defense than with the Pat's defense. When you control the ball for an entire quarter at one point, and the top offensive team in the league can't even get on the field, of course you're going to win. I don't see New England dominating on the ground against the Eagles, who just held the league's #1 rushing team to under 100 total yards.

2) The Steelers game: The Steelers are probably the biggest fraud 15-1 team ever, and the biggest fraud #1 defense ever (the only reason they were #1 in points allowed and yards against was because they run so much, hence more offenseive T.O.P., hence inflated defensive stats). Their secondary is junk compared to Philly. Once the Pats got that early lead thanks to the gifts from Barflesberger, the game was over. They won't be getting any gifts from #5, who has the lowest interception rate of any quarterback playing. McNabb only makes mistakes when he is getting hit when he throws over and over, but the offensive line has been playing really well lately. The Falcons led the NFL in sacks this year and only got to McNabb once.

The Patriots took both those teams' glaring weaknesses and exploited them. The Eagles are balanced, and have no noticeable weaknesses.

In summation, this thread needs more trash talk.
