And um, stopping the run means you could have provided more men in coverage while having minimal prescence on the line. Obviously with Dillon you couldn't do that.

I'm not sure with your rage and the fact that you probably have an X-acto blade next to your wrists that you're thinking clearly, so instead of shouting insults you should try taking a breath or two to calm down. 😛

McNabb threw for over 350 yards, what more do you want against the corners?

Stopping the run? Dillon had 75 yards. Hardly impressive for a team that lead most of the 2nd half.

The problem was with the pass coverage, plain and simple. Rip them all you want.

I wasn't really watching the clock that closely until it was about 3:04 left and I saw the clock was still running and they were still going to a huddle and not even rushing to the line. When did that possession start clockwise?

The reason McNabb had over 350 passing yards is because he passed the ball 51 times! That's what happens when they can't run the ball. Unfortunately, if you just focus on passing the ball, you're going to commit interceptions, and that's what McNabb did.

Two key points to the Patriots victory:

1. Turnovers. Whether or not the Pats forced them, they happened, like they always do. The Pats have force the other team to lose and solemnly commit turnovers themselves.
2. Rushing game. The Eagles were completely shutout in the rushing game. The Pats had more than 100 yards rushing allowing for a balanced offense.

Not too difficult, I am just lazy. How about instead of blaming your secondary, blame Mcnabb. Or is he untouchable? And the Patriots averaged 4 yds per rush against your defense...face it, you couldn't stop the run. Faulk lit you up (8 for 38), and Dillon did what he needed to do.

It was the turnovers that did the Eagles in, IMO.

Philly's clock management was miserable. I don't know if it's their head coach, offensive coordinator, or McNabb that's at fault but someone should be answering questions. I mean, they're behind by 10 and time is a huge factor. They challenge a play that causes a long delay. You'd think they'd call a play and one to follow so they wouldn't have to huddle but they didn't. They got the 1st down and huddled up right after.

Does Andy Reid call the plays? If so he's definitely the one who should shoulder the blame for the blunder in the last half of the 4th. Had there been more time on the clock they wouldn't have had to attempt a desperate onsides kick and would've had a totally different gameplan for the attempt at the tying field goal.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and I swear the Eagles were using "Jon Gruden's book of clock management" - and I don't mean that in a good way. I was pulling for the Eagles partly because of the underdog factor and I like McNabb. That said, even though the game was close and the Eagles had a slim chance at the end they really didn't deserve to win it. In the end the better team won.

Congrats to the Pats. They are a class organization and a deserve all the praise they're getting. It's amazing to build a team this good and continue winning in the age of free agency.

I think Red Dawn is right with the "shot their wad" comment. There's been too many opportunities to win with not enough heart and brains to take advantage of it. It was a great game and NE stayed more focused than the Philly...Reid and McNabb had their heads somewhere else in the 4th quarter, but whatever, I'm not going to be a Monday morning quarterback.

The only direction for my mood to go is up, I suppose. It's going to be a depressing few months coming up.

Philly had more total yards, double the 3rd downs converted + better 3rd down %, and whipped NE in passing yards! How did they lose? Bad clock management, turnovers, not enough pressure on Brady, and bad luck. Although I'm sure a lot of people in NE are pissed b/c they didn't cover the spread! I won $500 since Philly covered but wished they could have won the game. See, everyone's a winner now.

I think the odds of the Red Sox and Eagles winning it all in the same year would have been a million to one. It was a great sports year for me, New England winning it all was the next best scenario to Philly. Just one more reason Sox fans can rub it in the face of NY ers. Also, any NFC East fans have another painful couple of years, because the Eagles will be back in the SB. They get an improved pass rush, Andrews (1st round O-Line pick) back from his broken leg, a marquee receiver to replace "ALL TALK" Freddie Mitchell (guys in South Philly pub said this guy does NOT belong on the blue collar Iggles), Buckhalter back to help Westbrook, resign Trotter, and the Iggles will easily be the most successful NFC team for a long time to come.

Congrats to NE, it's great that many Sox fans can experience a DOUBLE championship in the SAME YEAR! Anyone know when the last time a football and baseball team have won championships in the same year??
