Man I'm yet another person quite willing to pay them the $30/yr to keep the ads off my computer. If they insist though I guess it's time to edit my LMHOSTs file once more.

Hmm, trying to think..... ohh well

What does that do?

I wonder who will get to wear the crown as 'the last subscriber'? Should be about 10 months from now, right?

I'd like to *KONK* him over the head and borrow his account for 10 months... 😀

Subscription End Date: August 21, 2004

I don't think I'm the last but pretty close. Please don't knock me out😛

Yes sir, we are officially SOL as far as pm's.
Maybe sometime this year we will get a better search feature.....

though not as fast as when I was a subscriber, the regular forums are sure way, way faster than what they used to be. When I first subscribed the regular forums would sometimes take 1/2 minute to load.

Well for those of us that never subscribed, at least we didn't waste any money 🙂 I would have been mighty upset had I subscribed and this happened.

It's tough to speculate as to the reason why, but I think I have an idea. There probably have been changes to their recent advertising and my guess is that they have signed a contract that would bring in more money, but as a result, the advertisers demanded that there would be no subscriber forum that would be free of advertising.

Anand probably weighed the amount of profit (probably small if any) they were making on the subscriber server vs how much they would make if they got rid of the subscriber server and went with this new deal. My guess is that it was a no brainer, they could get guaranteed money from an advertising deal and they decided to go with that.

The upside is for all of the non subscribers, who hopefully will get some better features in the near future. Maybe a higher PM limit, or some other perks. However, I'd be skeptical of that ever happening, they've promised new "features" before to subscribers and those never materialized. I wouldnt be surprised if these new "unified" features never materialized either.
