man, 4 days off and i got almost no time to play! stupid holidays!!! (lol jk)

game is still amazing and so much fun. only problems i have had so far are the known bugs with party chat and guild chat not working. kind of makes it tough to party up with more than one person. well, plus, i get lost a lot since all the maps are new (not like being able to get from one point to another with your eyes closed like in wow, lol).

i think i am most impressed with how the rpg parts are interspersed enough with just general questing to make it completely different from just grinding. i feel much more involved in my character and making light side/dark side decisions can be a bit tough at times. can't wait to get mah ship and do some space battles, woo woo!!

on a side note, every time i start playing i want to watch the original movies. 😀

KidNik,

Same here. All that time off and I had to spend it cooking or with family or girlfriend. Had very, very little time to play. Although I did play it somewhat here and there. I basically made a slicing alt to make some money. So I can just leave my laptop running the game and check on it every 15 -20 minutes to hit a couple of buttons to accept the last slicing mission reward, and send my companion off on the next mission.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i just wanted a few more weeks with slicing!!!!!

i'm only at 90k, dropped like 40k on stupid shit yesterday 🙁

I actually thought they had nerfed slicing in beta for that same reason. Was kind of surprised when people said how good it was now. Made me wondered if they had forgot the nerf or something.

Also from what i understand its the fact the lower level missions are the money makers. Even at maxed 400 slicing its better to go for rank 1 or 2 Rich yield missions. Thats where the real imbalance was 🙂

and i have to say the official forums are kind of funny to read. OMG 6 hour downtime WTF! or i rushed to 50 and am bored cause there isnt enough content or people to do it with. Or just other random sillyness. Just forgot how much people will bitch and moan over little things.

so, it's weird... when I look at the server list, I see a flag for "the guild you applied to is on this server," but no guild information when I actually log into a character.... unless I just haven't logged in with the right one. haha. I've been bouncing between Republic and Empire a lot, can't decide which one I like more.

I was working slicing pretty good (900k after all my spending) because I knew this would happen. Oh well. When the server goes up I'll see how nerfed it is. If it's 50%+ I'll dump slicing since I can make more killing lvl 48-50 mobs.

yeah if slicing becomes a -$$$ not sure what to pick up...it's pretty worthless at higher levels (unless these augments become worthwhile...)

Where at specifically? It's ok, we're on different servers :awe:

I just meant in general. You find an outpost with many mobs and mow them down quick. For example, Voss has that large outpost of 45-47 mobs with strongs and elites. Could circle that thing all day long.

We'll see how the nerf is, but for upper levels it just means less sending companions out and more mob killing for credits.

It's not hard making money in TOR,I have hardly done any crafting and have over 100K and that's after paying for all skills on my Sage.

I guess higher you are level wise more money you make from drops.

I'll start doing augment missions now. 🙂

Worse case, I now have 4 companions that can run my bioanalysis collection missions all day. I love the medpacks that heal me and my companion. If my companion drops in a fight, I pop that and he/she jumps back up and starts fighting. It's a free battle rez. 🙂

The money scales a bit too though. lower levels you make money and skill costs are only like 7k...crafting like 300 per item. But now (at level 41) my last skill was 32k to train i think. Crafting items to earn are like 1k-2k. So its not like you just make money and everything else stays the same either. but yes still easy to make enough to afford all my skill upgrades and crafting upgrades.

Are some crafting items dropped from mobs, and can you make money selling them in the bazaar or auction hall whatever, if you aren't going to use them yourself?

yeah but the beauty of it all was I was making a killig slicing while doing stuff like cooking dinner, watching tv, drinking beer, etc.

HOW DO I MAKE MONEY WHILE NOT ACTUALLY PLAYING NOW?!?!?

Sigh they didnt fix the cover bug when rolling into natural cover and then abilities not working. I always have to cover in place. Quite annoying.

Also a good thing I ground out 500k with slicing before they nerfed it. Although I always did the rich lvl 5 missions dont know if those were affected or not.

Give them time, there is probably quite a list of bugs that need fixing,I guess they have their own bug priority fix list order.

I hear ya. Time to hire some cheap labor to build credits.

On the plus side of the nerf, if a lot of people drop slicing now, there will be far fewer people doing augment collections.

Slicing was just good early on (prior to this recent nerf) in a characters leveling life. Rarely can you pull more than 6K creds a box. When you reach level 40+ you'll earn that easy per quest every time. You need it though as skills have an outrageous cost. Same with the crafting missions you need to do for the rare materials to craft anything of a decent quality level.

slicing was only great because it takes about an hour to run through the first planet main mission story quests to get your companion. After that, you can do crew skills. It takes about 2 more hours to get around 150 skill in it. Once you get that you are getting about 1K creds a box on the tier 2 rank 2 boxes. They also only take about 8 minutes per box. So you are making 1K creds extra per 8 minutes or so. If you do the teir 2 rank 3 boxes at around 200 skill you are making about 2K creds and they take about 12 minutes or so to do. Basically the tier 2 of a given rank of boxes from slicing missions is what yields the higher credit rewards. The tier 1 boxes don't make you jack. I managed to get to 378 slicing skill and was just starting on the tier 2 rank 6 boxes. It was about 30+ minutes per mission to pull in about 6K creds a box thereabouts.

I didn't mind because I could start my companion on a 30 minute mission and go off and do something else like cook for a bit, clean, do some laundry, or hang out with the girlfriend (most of what I was doing) and still be making some creds. I managed to make about 140K creds over all going up to 378 slicing before this morning on a level 10 toon. Don't get me wrong, that's a TON of creds for a level 10 toon. Still, if I power leveled that toon over the same time frame I probably would have made about that much as well. The only difference is that the money would have most certainly been spent on skills and upgrades to keep the character going. Thus putting that alt character in the same broke state as my main character.

you can't powerlevel while hanging out with your gf...of course mob killing was more profitable/hour, but you can't do that shit passively.

damn I'm really disgruntled...woke up and went outside to start my morning slicing (before hopping into the shower lol) and was met with failure.

*groan*

or you could lvl your character and send out 3-4 companions out at a time on slicing missions i was doing about 150-200k a play session.
