Good lord, you guys are talking about all kinds of stuff I don't even understand. 😀

Anyone have a class & tree recommendation for a majority solo player? More often than not I will be playing on my own and want to pick a class that will afford me the best chance of doing so.

Thanks.

KT

Commando or Merc hands down..

Merc even better as they get Mako right away and she is a healer.

Ah, that makes perfect sense now.

This is actually a related question...I'm assuming targeting for "spells" is MMO standard? There are area of effect spells and single target spells and for single target you must click on the target before you can cast the single target spell? What about indoor areas? Wouldn't a melee class be able to approach a caster indoors at least?

Or can casters target thru walls? And more importantly...assuming you're already targeted by a caster...if you are behind a wall relative to a caster can he still hit you with spells?

Cool, thanks muchly. Going to try them out this weekend to see how I like them. I tried Jedi last time and loved it.

yes MMO standard for the most part and LOS does work most of the time..

and indoors and outdoors make no difference in casting.. all the areas are still wide open combat areas for the most part..

So in theory, if a zone existed that was tight tunnels, a melee could chance upon a caster and immediately be within melee range, yes? But once you're targeted walls won't save you?

Ooh, another thing...now I know Everquest had "zoning" and TOR probably has "seamless zones". In EQ you could just hit backslash-enter and it would give you a list of people in the zone...I haven't truly played any of the new "seamless zones" games...so I would ask...if you are indeed in an indoor area where you can't see people for hundreds of meters around you, do you know who and/or how many other players are in your vicinity in a similar way?

the problem is even in those tight tunnels.. casters have many ways to deal with you.. both caster classes have a knockdown AOE that gives them plenty of time to run away out of range in addition to the standard slow and a stun..they can flat kite you. even in tight spaces..

and other than force leap which has a fairly long cooldown on it.. the JK/SW isnt going to be able to stay in range..

as for zones.. well its like real life.. if they are near you you can see them.. and /who them just not opposite faction.. you do not get to see how many of them are on.

Bleh servers are still down and forums are completely shot..

Uploaded some videos to pass time, nothing great to show though, just some clips of my trooper messing around on Hoth.

Well, I have to say, Everquest was probably even worse, as, at least in the early days, melees received absolutely nothing in terms of these abilities(although you ended up with pumice stones which could strip snare off you). Anyway, if it works like EQ, you'll have people with tanks for raiding and caster alts for pvping.

I'm guessing gear will be no trade and thus you won't be able to twink your PvP alts...thus also crushing the economy for gear sales.

I enjoyed the last weekend test, and I'll enjoy this one. Only problem is, I can start Friday at 10cst, but the wife can't start till Sat at 10cst. Sucks for her. 🙁

My patcher is having error updating game client. Any news on this? I've already search swtor forums and they are only filled with people who have the same issue and no resolution.

Check your logs - they're pretty good at telling you what's causing the issue [at least they use to be].

when is it erroring out [download, patching, installing an asset?]
