You guys are just jealous 🙂. This will let me know if my pre-order should be cancelled or not.

Not really since I already beta tested ToR back in July/Aug and gave feedback info(sod NDA lol...).

I'm looking forward to ME3 more then ToR,however nice to see another Sci-Fi MMORPG since we need more of these 🙂.

Got my notice yesterday that I'll be a tester for this weekend. Kind of sucks that we only get 3 days, and its bad timing because I'll be too busy this weekend. Might be able to play some on Friday or maybe a little on Sunday and thats it.

That blows

Depending on which class you chose and how much time you put in, the story may or may not grab you. However I haven't seen many complaints about story lines, just that they tend to get better later on. So don't let that put you off if you don't get to terribly far this weekend. Probably best just to focus on the mechanics of it.

Did everybody else only get 3 days? Fri > Sat > Sun?

Sounds like it.

While Star Wars: The Old Republic's beta test weekends thus far have been small and intermittent, BioWare hopes to make it up to anxious fans by kicking off a much larger beta event. The studio posted that it is in the process of inviting "more players into testing than [it's] ever invited before in a single weekend" over the course of today in preparation for this weekend's test.

This next beta weekend will take place from October 7th through the 11th and is separate from the ongoing closed beta.

Thanks for the advice, I just want to see how it plays...storyline will probably rock, from what i've read.

It's the same set of rules you agree to when you joined the MIB 😉

ADDENDUM A
PERMITTED DISCLOSURES
1. The fact that there is a Game Program.
2. The fact that you are a member of the Game Program.

I am not very legal savvy, does that mean I can, or cannot say I am?

Too many axe and sword RPGs over the years, players want more Sci-Fi and a change, personally I would love to see Mass Effect MMORPG.

No, no, a thousand times no!!!

Please dont give Bioware the idea to turn Mass Effect into an MMO like they did KOTOR.

Seriously, I guess I would not begrudge a Mass Effect MMO if they brought it out AFTER a great ending single player Mass Effect 3. But I will always be disappointed that there was not a KOTOR 3 to finish up the story line, especially after the rushed and unsatisfying ending to the second game.

Personally though, I will always prefer a single player game to an MMO. I want a game to play on my own, whenever I want, without having to party up or quest endlessly for a story that goes on and on without any resolution.

I dont mean to offend those who like MMOs, they are just not my stlye I guess. If that is what you like, then enjoy.

There is no reason why they can't do both ie MMORPG and single player RPG,end of the day its their decision ,but it would keep both sides happy.

I'm unimpressed, but not surprised. It's a typical MMO with Bioware's signature story-telling. I was hoping for a more hybrid FPS/RPG control scheme. I guess I'll have to wait until Planetside 2 for that. Right now I'm not seeing anything that makes this worth paying a monthly subscription for.

Is Planetside 2 also going to be browser based? If so, F2P AND browser based is a one - two punch that really slacks off my interest.

What would have given you any indication it was anything but 3rd person? What class are you.

I agree they could have done this, or Lucas Arts could have given the franchise to another studio for the single player game. Obsidian actually did a very good job on KOTOR 2 except for the ending, which most people assume was botched because they were forced to rush the game out the door. I dont really know why they did not do it, as there was a great demand for a KOTOR 3 single player game at the time. I dont think they will ever bring out a single player game now, since I think interest in the KOTOR 3 single player franchise has waned over time. I know at least myself, I just dont care much anymore.

My personal feeling is that they think they can make a lot more money off the MMO and did not want to draw attention away from it with a single player game.

So you aren't' interested because it's not a different game...

You've contributed how?

Wait...this can't be played in 1st person view? It doesn't matter whether a game is a shooter or an RPG, I hate third person view.

Correct, however the camera is done very well and I almost never wish for a fpc. A few times when looking around at the landscape it would be nice, otherwise its fine.

Hope there's going to be a demo then, there is no way in hell I am going to buy a 3rd person view without trying it first.
