I don't think there have even been any rumors of a beta coming anytime soon

My email says 22d Dec,mind you I live in the UK so that's probably European release date.


This is no Jedi mind trick. The most heavily anticipated MMO to date will launch on 22.12.2011.

Anyone think they decided to announce it now based on the D3 release being pushed to 2012 1Q? I know they're different genres but still are competing against each other.

I really want to get excited about a Dec 20th release...

but alas I fear that it will lead to disappointment when it inevitably gets pushed back...

we've waited so long...

It's not a release date:

It's a paid beta date.


So yea, no need to push it back.

Bad date so close to Xmas IMHO,they could of picked a much better date,anyway be interesting to see how much has or not improved since my last beta test.

The only problem I have with the date is I'll be busy over Christmas doing other things so won't be able to put a lot of hours into ToR which should give them time to release a patch or two like you always see after any new MMORPG release.
 
Just curious, how is the combat in the current build? Specifically, two things : the spells(or Force abilities I imagine)- are they all mostly fast casting like Rift? Can you cast while moving, or have to stop?

And the melee combat, is that currently that you can turn on autoattack or you have to press attack for each attack?

Not suppose to discuss those things, but Im sure if you googled videos for it you could find it quite easily. Combat hasnt changed, just talents and mod system.

You can't put bounties on people's heads? A friend of mine that was all hyped up about this game, said that you could. It sounded like a neat mechanic at the time.

I'm not sure if there's any way to make this kind of mechanic work in a MMORPG. It doesn't work in EVE Online because the person with the bouny on him just has a friend or alt collect it. In a game like The Old Republic, which unlike EVE I assume has no real death penalty, it would be even more pointless.

Um closed beta has been going on for almost 2 years.

this is a firm date.

new build is up for testers as we speak.
