How about some spoilers? I haven't watched it yet but I'm dying to know what happened.

I just started watching the Sopranos last month, with the start of the new season, and I have to say I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

It is an interesting premise for the series, but it seems to move so slowly. The first episode of the season was great but since then it seems like it has gone to sleep. What was the point of last nights' show, just setting up next week?

That was too funny. I doubt he has already committed suicide, but he definitely appears to be off the reservation.

he only had three options:

1) whack the guys who saw him
2) suicide
3) wait to be whacked by the family

It's been slow this season. You really have to watch the previous seasons to get into it. Don't expect a bunch of gangsters shooting at one another all episode.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Off the top of my head (and thus probably incomplete):

Tony was back at home. He had a huge, muscular new driver/bodyguard.

Uncle Junior was in a locked mental facility and seemed increasingly nutty. He still maintained he didn't shoot Tony, and if he did, it was due to a malfunction of the gun.

Phil Leotardo came to Tony by order of Johnny Sack, to ask him to kill some guy in some way related to the New York family. Tony declined.

Johnny Sack's daughter Allegra got married. Johnny got a federal judge to let him attend, with US Marshal Service escorts. The wedding was a huge gala and consumed much of the episode. At the wedding, Tony started to faint when he went to take his shoes off to placate the US Marshals providing metal-detector security.

Johnny reiterated his request that Tony kill the guy discussed above. Tony agreed, and consulted with Chris about how to get it done. Chris was resistant and didn't want to help, but Tony got him in line.

The Marshals told Johnny he had to leave as the bride and groom were cutting the cake. Ultimately the Marshals' big black Suburban cut off the bride and groom's white Rolls limo as it tried to leave the wedding. Basically the Marshals were being dicks. Johnny started crying, and was led away in handcuffs. Ginny Sack fainted, and we don't know what her state is currently.

Back inside, Phil Leotardo told Tony and Chris that he lost a lot of respect for Johnny after seeing him break down like that (as far as I can recall this is the first time we've seen Phil being disloyal to Johnny). Tony defended Johnny.

After coming home from the wedding, Vito went out, telling his wife he was going to make collections. We cut to a gay bar, where two random soldiers went in to make a collection from the bartender. As they were leaving, they saw Vito in a leather vest and Village People hat, dancing with a guy. They confronted him and called him a f@g - he claimed he was there as a joke, which they obviously didn't believe.

Vito went home again and got a gun, then left. He went to a motel room, where he called a mystified Sivio to check in.

In Dr. Melfi's office, Tony talked about how the perception of weakness was a big deal in his business.

Back at the Bing, Tony and the crew were hanging around. Someone commented that they hadn't heard from Vito in a few days. Tony sucker-punched, then beat up his beefy new bodyguard for no apparent reason, to remind everyone of his alpha-male status. He then went into the bathroom and vomited repeatedly.

Just watched the ep...beating up his new driver was pretty weak, I was hoping they'd end the episode stronger.

Nah, he had to do it. Or at the very least, he had to make a decision. Did you notice all the cuts before he started fighting? Tony was actually self-conscious in front of his friends, which rarely happens (consider the wedding earlier.) He had to make it stop, and he really did it in the most effective way possible.
There was also probably a jealousy factor (he was looking at Baccala before he looked at/assaulted his driver.) It all fits in line with what we know about Tony.

I agree %100.

The best part of the show was when Tony was in therapy, and the doctor was like "So what's the problem?"

And tony puts his hands out and is like "he's a FFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-aaaaaaaaaaagggggggg"

Oh man the laughter in the room I was in was fvckin great. Does anyone have a cap of that part? i would love to see that part again.

eh i thought it was pretty obvious - to show em who's still in charge and that he is more powerful than this huge body guard type dude.

I thought this was a great episode. The Artie moment "getting back to the basics" moment was great. That Albanian chick was hot too. One of my favorite lines...

"We saw Lindsay Lohan. She is a piece of ass." or something like that.

One of the things I love about the Sopranos is that you can have many story lines all happening at the same time in a single episode, and sometimes spanning multiple episodes/seasons. Each character has their own line, depth, etc.

Right before he starts a fight with his bodyguard he scans the room looking at all the guys biceps. At first I didn't get why he was staring at everybodys muscles, but then it became apparent that he was looking for the toughest guy to start a fight with to reestablish his dominance.

Tony picked the bodyguard because he's buff and because Tony knew the bodyguard wouldn't back down since he has a temper and doesn't know better.
