I've read the Antec is virtually identical to the AS, HTH :)

Well I am not much of a believer in any of the esoteric heatsink compounds but I do use AS3 just because its there,
I do believe the application technique is important though.

Is anybody else here running Nascar 2003 season with their 75FRNs? I have run into some sound issues with this game
and I have blown at least 4 hours trying to pin it down but to no avail.

Welp I got my answer, after about 10 tries I finally got thru to tech support at Vivendi Universal (Sierra) and I was
told that tech support has been plauged with calls of this complain and it seems its an issue that their is no
resolve other than buying another sound card.

OK guys Ive been bored so Ive been thinking...Oh know! ;)
You will see 3 pics.
1) The Soltek NB HS/Fan (Smallest)
2) Medium HS/Fan
3) Large HS/Fan

The 3rd one I can cut down with NP and I added a fan off a old slot 1 HS. When you see it after cutting it it will be the same size as the fan but MUCH taller and should still clear everything. 2 Will fit with NP. I know I will have to drill holes in either of the two which isnt a problem.

Also if I go with 2 the HS and Fan off the Soltek fits perfect on the 2-Medium H/S. It seems a little better then the soltek one.

Tomorrow or Sunday Im hoping to adding the NB back onto the board with AS. What do you guys think of modifying my own H/S to a bigger one. with either 2 or 3 H/S Fan? It will be pretty simple and easy to make and take back off if needed.

Take a look at each and see what you think. Agian my PC is already broke down so its no biggie wither way I go. Now what does this help buy cooling the NB better?

I could always go to the auto store and buy some High Temp GOLD paint even and paint everything but the bottom of it! ;) I just stuck my AGP card in and plenty of room. :) Surley it couldnt hurt anything.

My Northbridge fan guard is painted Neon Green as part of my UV mod I am applying to my case. :)

BentValve sounds cool! Cant wait to see pics when its done! BTW..I drove to Best Buy and they were out of the Antec Artic Silver! :|

Might stop by a friends in the next day or two and see if he has some. If not I have some on the way.
I finished my NB H/S Fan mod. Doesnt look to bad. Used a dremal tool to cut it down. :) I'll post pics after I mount it back onto the board.

hi...

DAPUNISHER

just wondering...

is there any step by step guide to OC with this Soltek SL-75FRN motherboard?

and if i were to OC a 1700+ or a 2400+ processor.. do i still need to unlocked the CPU using pencil trick etc?

Man... i'm a noob at OC...

thanks..

Welp I just put my machine back together. I just dont get it. Good news I can run X11@183FSB now :)
Iv tested X11.5@183 and still boot ok but havnt ran anything to see if it stays stable. But atleast Im getting in higher FSB now.

I tried useing 1-256 stick and it wouldnt even boot at X13@166? I tried both sticks each at a time and the samething. Now after I added both sticks together thats when I was able to hit X11@183 at 185 it keeps rebooting. I tried upping the Dimm 1 extra volt but didnt seem to help.

What puzzles me is I can run the following
X11@183
X11.5@183
X13@166 = 2171 Ghz

Anything inbetween trying to hit 2.2 Ghz crashs. I cant find the swwet spot to hit 2.2 Ghz! Ive tried adjusting my timing but nothing seems to. Is my CPU holding me back now?

Whats a XP2100 CPU default voltage and how far can I go and keep it safe?

I assume you have a t-bred b? If so the stock voltage is 1.6 , you should be fine up to 1.85.

No need for physical mods in order to change the multiplier with our board on either of the CPUs you listed if they're T-breds. One of the members here has put together a nice little guide to basic overclocking with explanations of each setting that is linked from time to time in the CPU/OC forum so I'd suggest you do a search for it. Just remember that raising the voltages to the CPU, RAM, chipset help increase fault tolerance but also produce more heat so a very good cooling solution for the everything is important. Don't bump the FSB more than 5mhz at a time once you get past 166fsb or you may end up with hdd data corruption like some us have had. if you have good 3200DDR or above and use the CPGeek bios to raise the chipset voltage you can most likely see the 211fsb limit on the board by dropping the multiplier and keeping the ram@100% synchronous mode, good luck and post back with some results :)

Howdy BuckMaster :) My personal limits on voltages are
T-Bred-1.85v
RAM-2.7v
Chipset/vdd-1.8v

Anything beyond those is too risky for long term use IMHO and are only good for making impressive screenshots ;) BTW, I can't recall if you ever flashed the CPGeek bios or not but that was the only thing that got me past the fsb hump when I was stuck@190fsb and I've seen posts by other owners that topped out around 170-180fsb limit@stock so you may need more vdd voltage to keep going. Also, have you tried lowering the ram to 80% to see if it's the weakest link? I know it's a performance hit but for testing purposes it would help to determine if you are CPU limited. Regardless 2.17ghz on a 2100+ is still respectable so don't throw too much more money at it than you already have just for a moderate performance gain compared to your present overclock unless you are just obsessing like some of us tend to do *raises hand*

The sweetspot at this point

It's passed everything thrown at it including 3 different Gromacs WU's@1.775v bios setting (1.76-1.792v actual) and if I raise the multiplier just .5 it needs max voltage and isn't worth the added heat and voltage so I think this is where I'm settling in with this setup.

I Am picking up my new SK-7 + vantec stealth tomorrow. And then I will raise some voltages to see if I can get a little more juice out of this system. Right now 175x10.5 seams to be the sweet spot. I've had it up to 185 fsb but didnt pass prime95.

Bentvalve: All I can say about your case is... That looks awesome. I have a new enermax case coming in a couple days. I may have to add a few things to it now. Didnt realize a case could look that cool. Damn, This stuff never ends!!

New review of the Soltek SL-75FRN-L here@LAN Addict .

If you?re a hard-core overclocker, this board has every setting you could ever want in order to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your system. You could probably spend an entire weekend just playing with the memory timings to find the perfect settings for your RAM.

Short review but nice score ;).

:)
