I think the Bears are going to run, run, run the ball. Thomas and Benson are both healthy and ready to go. I am thinking they will pound the gridiron all day with those two (30-40 carries!). I also think the Bears D is really going to step it up and be the winning factor in the game.

Go Bears!

Most sane man with the best idea so far in the thread.

Seriously, if ONE of the following occur, the Bears should be able to keep the game close and win it. If two occur, they should win it handily. If three or more occur, I doubt it'll be anything short of a blowout.

A: Pound it up and down the field, switching Jones/Benson in and out not just for series, but more often for individual plays.

B: Fake out the tired, unskilled and inexperienced Seattle secondary with Grossman tossing off small posts and sideline routes to Moose, Clark (preferably, because they seem to have the best chemistry)

C: Control Grossman and make sure he stays safe instead of airing it out like a wannabe Favre. (given)

D: The real Monsters of the Midway on D can contain the crazy 4/5 WR sets that Holmgren knows how to blow apart defenses with, and if they can possibly exploit them for a few turnovers.

E: The D-line can contain Alexander, and stop him from busting out huge runs, which as of late, hasn't looked all that difficult for even teams like Dallas, and shouldn't hardly be difficult at all for the Bears of all teams.

/discuss

Thing is, C and C alone can LOSE the game for Chicago.

And although I agree with them being unskilled/inexperienced, how can the secondary be all that tired? Half of them have only played one game this season!

Can the Hawks do it? Definitely. Will they? On paper and odds say no. But I'll be sitting there, yelling and screaming at my TV rooting for them, and hoping they do!

How? Even "bad Rex" isn't that bad. How many of his turnovers have been returned for touchdowns this year (five IINM, out of 20+)? And how many has the defense just sucked up to and handled, usually knocking the other team back to only three points, or possibly even creating a turnover of their own?

The only real reason that both of his interceptions in the game against Green Bay were returned for TD's is because the GB secondary is one of the best in the league, and because they have quite a pass rush when it's being utilized to terrorize Grossman. Last year they even led the league in pass defense.

Harris, Woodson, Marquand Manuel (remember that name Hawks fans? 😛), KGB, Nick Collins, Nick Barnett...

Anyways, i'll stop rambling. Grossman is NOT bad enough, even at his worst (0.0 QB rating...) to lose a game by himself, and even if he made one, even two decisions anywhere near questionably bad enough to do so, Lovie would have him stop throwing altogether or put in Griese.

Nice points! Another thing people don't realize is that when Grossman is hot, he is freakin hot and TEN TIMES BETTER than Griese ever was or can be. Griese is a second string QB for a reason, and he has been on how many (4 or 5) different teams for a reason. He sucks IMHO, but can fill in as a BACKUP when needed.

Like others have said, this game is impossible to call. The Seahawks are so unpredictable that it all depends on what team they field that day, as well as Rex Grossman, who is also unpredictable. I will bring up the Chargers example again. The best team in the NFL won a game that really could have gone either way. The Seahawks defense dominated as much as one can against San Diego.

Also the Hawks were without Hasselbeck and Alexander much of the year. Even when Hasselbeck was in he didn't have his running game much of the time. For this reason any regular season records are moot. Even if the records included Hasselbeck and Alexander playing, the San Diego game may have proven that the offense didn't sync until the last game.

My prediction for Sunday. Mediocre play by both sides leading to a 13-13 tie game late into the 4th. The Seahawks will line up for a game winning field goal as time expires. The field goal will fall short, into the waiting arms of Devon Hester, who will turn on the after-burners for the victory. Bears by 6, 19-13.

EDIT: Da Bears

Da Bears could beat the Seahawks with Kyle Orton at QB while using his left arm! Seriously though, I hope Grossman doesn't blow it.

Grossman is freaking awful. If Lovie Smith lets him toss the ball around the yard it could be a long day for da Bearss. Grossman is a self-admitted over-thinker and even against the piss-poor and injured Seattle secondary he's going to do what he does best: throw picks and lots of 'em.

The Hawks have had some odd showings the last 2 games, but when they took SD to the wire they showed they can play with the best teams in the league.

This should be a good game. Hawks by 3.

that would be exciting.

I'm pulling for the Seahawks. I was in total awe with their steadfast resolve to not give up no matter what in their last game.

Pick: Josh "icewater-in-veins" Brown kicks a winning field goal, final score 20-17.

That would be 1000+ alcohol poisoning visits to local Chicagoland hospitals 😉

Just more tickets available for the championship game.

Bears by more then 6 despite the dismal play of Grossman ... if the Seahawks wern't so banged up I'd be picking them & I wouldn't be too surprised if Chicago blows it.

Bears are a defensive team. They may be able to slow the Seahawks, but I'm going to suggest that this game is truly going to be won or lost by Rex. I don't like Rex now and didn't like him when he played college ball. He is simply not consistant and makes bad decisions under pressure.

Anybody in Seattle hear about whether Jackson is supposed to start or not? Same with Trufant, anybody?

D.J. Hacket is also uncertain to play due to a sprained ankle. 🙁

This Seahawks team definitely looks depleted.
