Er, OP, didn't OLPC fail, and pretty spectacularly? Because the laptops were crap because they were trying to be cutesy (it is for kids after all). Which, I get they were being ernest, but they were incredibly naive because well, it just made for worse laptops. Smartphones actually have realized connecting the world. Unfortunately by then we had social media at its worst so...it mostly didn't help either.

Ivory-Beige-Dove-Pistachio reminds me of the shitass Radiolab episode where the rich white guy cried when they weren't just buying his nonsense argument, trying to claim how buying the right to go trophy hunting in Africa is really the most peaceful and protective thing you can do for the animals. Unfortunately the hosts fell for it and even went with the guy to his hunt, instead of you know, talking to the Africans trying to actually save the animals that know that's all a sham so that the psychos can pat themselves on the back like they're doing some great thing, when they're really just bribing corrupt officials to get a trophy. But I digress.
