I finally fired my PS5 back up the other day to start playing Stranger of Paradise. It might be the first Japan-originating game that I used English voices simply because the dialog is more mere-worthy than anything... and the awkward English voice acting just exacerbates that! Although, the game does really push probably my greatest weakness in gaming... adapting to newer control schemes. I can't tell you how often I keep pressing the wrong button, or just not understanding some basic concept of how the controls work. For a while, I kept wondering how I was having issues intercepting the Bomb's Fire attack, but I realized that I would lock onto the Bomb with R3, and try to move the camera a bit with the right joystick. The problem is that moving the right joystick when locked on will just change your lock-on target, and I kept doing that while trying to instinctively move the camera. Once I realized my folly, I was able to do a lot better.
There is one thing that I'm wondering about the PS5. On the Xbox, it will automatically check games for updates and allow me to queue them up. On the PS5, I can use the menu button (the one to the right of the track pad) to open up a menu on any home screen games, and in that menu, there's an option to check for an update. However, if I go to the full games/apps screen, the menu no longer has an option to check for an update. Is there an easy way to check for updates for my games? I'll switch games randomly, and I'd rather not have to wait on updates.
So is this PS5 thing available for purchase yet? I haven't paid attention...after BB started charging $200 just to try and reserve one.
So, is that kind of madness over, yet? haha. someday, some day I will purchase another console...
I joined Best Buy's program mostly so I could get free warranties on my purchases, because it also includes items that I give as gifts. I gave out two Quest 2s as gifts during Christmas, and given the portability of the device, I figured it would be a good idea to have that piece of mind. Thing is... having that TotalTech membership doesn't really guarantee that you'll get anything. I think enough scalpers are willing to join it simply because they can amortize the $200 cost over multiple items where as a normal shopper might only pick up a single item.
