I was lucky enough to get a playstation 3 (20gb) from a gamestop on black friday. I have been impressed thus far. I bought madden 07 and resistance and I like both.

Just recently started playing resistance online and the 20 on 20 is crazy fast paced on the smaller maps. Still weird to play a FPS on a console though.

I also download all of the playable demos so far and I thought motorstorm has some sleeper potential. I thought it was fun and the graphics are great. Depending on what vehicle you choose the tougher it is to control. On the motorcycle I crashed quite a bit but I was still able to finish 1st aganist the computer. Racing with the truck was a breeze only had to worry about driving over the cliffs.

NBA 07 is horrible like everyone has said. The graphics are fairly impressive but the gameplay is terrible. F1 racing was fun to play as well.

GranTurismo HD Dropped to focus on GranTurismo 5

November 30, 2006 - Sony and Polyphony Digital's experiment in download-based gaming has come to an early end. Sony announced today that it has cancelled the retail release of Gran Turismo HD in favor of a full-fledged Gran Turismo 5 product.

Gran Turismo HD was originally set for Japanese release later this month. Sony was planning to release the title at low cost, but with minimal gameplay content included from the start. Players would have to download cars and tracks through micro transactions.

A version of Gran Turismo HD will still be released exclusively in download form through the PlayStation store. Titled Gran Turismo HD Concept, this free download will be available through the Japanese store on 12/24. A date for the US store debut has not been announced.

This will be just the first of multiple "Concept" downloads. While specifics on the content to be included in the downloads were not announced today, producer Kazunori Yamauchi did provide some hints at a message posted on the official Gran Turismo site. According to Yamauchi, the download available on Christmas Eve will give a first look at the high definition graphics provided by the PlayStation 3. The next Concept download will include Polyphony's next generation driving engine.

As for the online racing that was being promised for Gran Turismo HD, Yamauchi says that this will be included in the final Gran Turismo 5 product. Many of the other elements that were planned for GT HD will also make it into GT5, according to Yamauchi. A release date for this true next generation Gran Turismo has yet to be finalized.

Polyphony seems to have quite a bit in the works for GT5. The Gran Turismo official site lists the genre for Gran Turismo HD Concept as "Real Driving Simulator," the same genre that's been used for the series since the original PlayStation version. For Gran Turismo 5, the genre is listed as "Online Car Life Simulator."

That'll be a nice little free tech demo for the masses.

Aside from the smirk at yet another broken promise from Sony that's mandatory from an Xbox 360 owner like myself, this is a good thing in the end. Forget GT4 redone, get working on GT5 because we all know it's going to be a while in development.

here's to hoping for damage.. once and for all
include a hundred or two hundred cars at start, all with damage.. and then use the network model to charge for packs of cars in addition.
i understand damage in GT would be a hard feat when working on 500 different car models.

No damage! I like using the guard rails to help me turn!

It's not that as much as the licensing issue. Other than with Project Gotham Racing 2 (what an insanely great game) and the huge but undisclosed amount MS paid to allow damage there, few car manufacturers have ever agreed to let their in-game cars get mashed up.

I want to buy my brother an HDMI cable so when he finally gets a PS3 he doesn't do something stupid like buy a $120 Monster cable. Is 28 gauge sufficient or should I get 24 gauge?

i'd say get 24gauge
reason? it's guaranteed to be better (better gauge is always better unless its got sh!tty connectors), and at only $15, is it really a big deal?

Motorstorm E3 "gameplay" vs actual gameplay

http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=15401&type=wmv

Seriously I don't know why everyone still loves Sony. All they do is lie to customers since they entered the gaming industry. And a year behind the XBox360 and the PS3 isn't even better. At least when the XBox came out a year behind, the graphics was a lot better than the PS2.

The PS3 will revolutionalize gaming? Uh no it didn't, all Sony gave us is a beast of a machine that is not really a machine made for gaming (w/ its video RAM issues). Sony could've easily made a better product but decided not to. Selling a $600 machine with no HD cables, removing the rumble feature, and all for trying to win a format war...

I agree, PS3 is a turd right now. the only slightly good thing about it is that at least it plays blu ray movies, the games are crap.

thing is, when some good games finally come out, i'll end up buying one and you will probably too.

that "target" render of motorstorm is awesome, maybe we'll see something like that next generation.

darn ydl doesnt go public till dec 25. oh well gives me time to pick up a usb or bluetooth keyboard and a bigger hard drive.

has anyone tried ydl on thier ps3 yet? im really curious to know what kind of power the cell processor packs.

that video is quite misleading though. that e3 video was never claimed to be "actual gameplay" or anything. it was just a pre-rendered video.

come on, who do you think got fooled? I doubt anyone thought the rendered video was actual gameplay. hell, it would be easier to convince someone it was a REAL video...

anyway, i've seen the game, and it looks damn good. hard the first time you pick up the controller
