Actually it sold for $1250; read the auction. The seller just circumvented eBay's fees.

Whenever it says the "auction was ended early to sell the item to the high bidder", that typically means the seller made an deal with the buyer outside of eBay. Saves the buyer the headache of waiting, saves the seller the headache of eBay fees and non-paying bidders.
 
Looks like PS3 is not immune to sudden death syndrome. A poster in the ArsTechnica gaming forum just said his PS3 died today after less than 2 days of use.

That will _really_ be annoying for someone who paid $1,100+ on eBy, good luck getting a replacement from Sony any time soon.

Although I didn't get a PS3 (wasn't looking), I did get a treat on PS3 launch day. I got my Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive and King Kong. All I can say is wow.

HOnestly I was wondering the same thing. Not everyone likes to buy or sell stuff on ebay....

 
wow. am i the only one on here that has actually opened and played there ps3?

downloaded the new update (1.10) and the motorstorm demo (both the time of the entire osu/michigan game)... motostorm runs flawless and looks very very good. much better than the version they have in the demo kiosk... i get no slow down or frame lost... particle effects are cool... the motion tilt steering is not as tight as it should be yet...

watched kingdom of heaven last night in blu-ray... also very nice... its on par with my hd-dvd player for my 360... still feel the menus are a little slugish compared to the menus on the hd-dvd player...

$600+ for a 60GB version is a bit too much! I'd rather take the money and invest it into a LCD TV or something else. 😀
 
if anyone has their ps3 hooked to their monitor can you please tell us how it looks? or better yet post some pics.
if i get one of these things its getting hooked up to my 20" WS viewsonic via DVI and im curios to how its going to look.

ya know, I should really just join a ps3 forum to ask these questions?
 
well I think it was a good idea to sticky this thread. Having 1000 PS3 threads isn't exactly a good thing.

and this thread will never touch our official xbox 360 thread in length 😉

I think the Xbox thread was stickied last year, and it seems like people are smart enough to keep most of the Wii discussion in the official thread, even without a sticky. Most people aren't smart enough to keep PS3 posts in the official thread even WITH a sticky.

the 3 people that are interested in the wii on these forums know that their topic would get lost quick as no one would respond, due to lack of interest/boredom. so they navigate over to their one thread to discuss.

wow, just got done playing f1 racing demo... i am impressed with the graphics and the controls are great... i am starting to enjoy my ps3 more and more... its a nice complement to my xbox 360.

i just wish sonys online service was as quick as live when it comes to downloads but i can't complain its free.

My condolences bro. You waited 3 days, ended up with a PS3 bundle, and prices are through the floor.

Hope you can unload those games and accessories for retail and make your money on the PS3 before the prices drop even more.
 
I just played a kiosk at gamestop in the mall and I have to say that I was really impressed. I played the racing game...moto something...and I had the motion sensor enabled. It was amazing! The $600 price tag doesn't seem that bad after you play it.
