Did the original Xbox upscale 720p to 1080i?

the original? probably not considering the 360 didnt until recently when they upgraded the firmware to allow that functionality.

The 360 was able to do this from the start.

i could have sworn there was a firmware jiggy that had something to do with upsampling on the xbox.

I believe it has to do with 720p games being upscaled to 1080p. 720p -> 1080i is more kinda like side-sampling, not really an upgrade in quality.

I doubt theres a 1080p TV out there that can't do this by itself anyway. But there are a great many CRT HDTVs that are 480p/1080i only, some can convert 720p, but many can't. It's a huge omission.

Oh man it's pouring rain here in Manhattan now. Can't help but smile thinking about all those people waiting outside.

QFT... not just manhattan, its pouring in the whole NYC/LI / Tristate area.

 at all the fools camped out who are wondering if they should head home. ROFL

Update for Portland AT'ers. KMart on NE 122nd didn't receive any PS3's and KMart Gresham received two.

I have some other "off the beaten path" stores I'm going to check with. I'll probably stay home tonight.

imagine that a store here in NYC reports to have no PS3 shipped to them and people will sure start a riot after standing in the pouring rain and strong winds

lol ya, it most definitely brings a smile to my face.

I genuinely feel bad for the guys who just want to play the system.

But for all the scalpers, I'm hoping that theres at least one lightning strike.

We have dark omnious clouds looming over the eastside of Portland. So I'll probably stay home. But it's still tempting, for standing in the cold for 10 hours that would pay for 1 months rent and then some.

Yes, there are some stores with 5 which have 2 people in line. I might go after "The OC". If I do go, I'll tell everyone tomorrow where I went, not tonight 🙂

Me and my buddies are heading out now for the midnight launch. We're bringing a barrage of arsenals with us from eggs to paintballs, ready to tag campers. It's been our tradition since the SNES launch days. I'm from Queens, NY by the way. We'll try to cover the Queens and Manhattan camping sites. It should be a blast.

Last and final update for Portland AT'ers.

Yep, I was thinking off of the beaten path stores.

Part of me is relieved and part of me is jealous of the people making $$$$.
