I am big into actual data so lets start putting actual numbers to the claims....

You can list your own system

CPU (model)
MOtherboard (model and chipset)
Ram (model and speed)
Cooling (air, water, phase, or LN2)

and cost would be nice...

Then list your max stable OC. List your definition of your stability testing. List idle and load temps.

or You can link us to sites where people have posted results in similar format to above

Lets stop talking about how great something is at Ocing and see for ourselves....I am hearing lots of talk but not finding many exanples on the net to the ocing prowess of the new Phenom II processors.

I have seem semi decent results mainly with the BE (black edition) chips, and a few average ocs with non BE chips.

Sorry to thead jack and dont want to start a flame war but just out of curiosity I see you have a 940 and a qx6700 which one do you like more and which works better for you??
I just ask because I am down grading from what I am running in my sig and want to weigh in my options..

Thank god my Phenom II runs stock at 3.5GHz, I won it at a AMD dragon event.

But mine ocs to about 4.3, 1.5V, I also had to lower my DRAM to 800HMz. It runs very hot on air(using stock cooler) and also runs hot b4 OC

Quizard ,

put all of your info down please...cost dont worry about it....

That is amazing that stock at 3.5ghz and only .15v got you to 4.3ghz....perhaps your stock limit was higher?

that is the highest I have seen...rivals to tops I have seen people running on water....screen shots would be nice

Raptureme

The BE940 is not mine....that is from firing squad...I posted a result I could find....

My Qx6700ES is still fine for me at 3.466ghz on air and tops out mid 60's in temp...not bad for a c0 stepping chip. I liekly wont upgrade for another 6months so perhpas i5 or i7 will be in the cards for me.

Excellent....

I am seeing no one above 3.8ghz on air prime stable....suicide runs I see some 4ghz....prime stable 4ghz looks like water

Holy crap can you run that thing stable 24/7 at 4G? If so I might consider building yet another rig.

Mine is due next Tuesday......

O boy, there goes the neighborhood 😀 heheh jk

Not quite sure why you say that (its over my head)

But, I just want to see for myself what kind of a chip this PHII is, what kind of OC, how easy, how stable, etc... I don't even have a case for it, will be on a cardboard box....

You can never really trust review sites to show the real world view. 2 Years ago, I had 12 AMD X2's, then a Year ago, 12 C2Q's. Now down to 6 C2Q's, 3 C2D's, and celeron...

And soon to try AMD again.

what happened to the other 6 c2q's?

Yes I can run it stable 24/7 at 4.2GHz(4.3GHz runs a little to hot so i keep it down more). Mine is one of the 30 Best Phenom IIs out there so 4GHz might be hard to come by, but there is a 945 coming out soon but I have no idea what it will run at.

the 945 will also be 3ghz stock (same as 940, just an AM3 version supporting both DDR2, and DDR3 memory)
they are also releasing a PHII 950BE @ 3.1ghz around march-april which will also be DDR3

Also the Phenom II 9x5 will all have un-core clocks of 2.0GHz.

I don't see any 920s overclocked yet

Look in the extreme link in the first post...has I think to 920s.....the highest 920 OC I have seen is near 3.6ghz...I think the more fsb ocing it takes versus the 940 is the reason.

How do you know it is one of the 30 best. That is kinda specific, uhm data, if you knows what I mean and certainly implies a wee bit'o cherry picking was going on when they handed out these "free" samples at the Dragon event. Which if it is true then your experience is great for you and 29 others but adds absolutely zero value to the rest of us potential AMD customers.

My motherboard is 'AM3 CPU Ready'. I have to decide whether to pull the trigger on a PhII 940 in the near future as they are pretty cheap now, or wait for the PhII 945 so I can make the jump to DDR3/new AM3 motherboard and keep my CPU so I can upgrade to a faster PhII at some point in the future and just use my PhII 945 in the meantime. Decisions, decisions...
